Unions, like all other forms of organized criminal gangs, should be illegal.

That's so well thought out. I'm glad to see there is no knee jerk involved. Now you can go back to your crayolas.

The transit union here in NYC proved that last December. Even though it is illegal for them to strike, they did so anyway making everyones life a living hell for 3 days. And what did it accomplish? Absolutely nothing. The union accepted a deal and then they voted it down after going back to work.

The West Coast longshoremen's union was dominated by Communists as far back as the 1930s. Harry Bridges, who led that union for several decades, was a Communist who was originally from Australia. OTOH, The East Coast longshoremen's union used to be anti-Communist (though liberal on domestic issues), in the mold of George Meany and Samuel Gompers. I do not know whether that distinction still holds true, as many of the old-style unions have moved to the left politically.

Excellent analogy. Let's roll-out the RICO Act and start prosecuting them.

I've never understood why it's illegal for corporations act in concert to fix the cost of a product to a consumer, but it's legal for unions to fix the cost of labor for businesses.
