I'm going to bookmark this thread and wait for the dust to settle a little, to separate the wheat from the chaff. We'll see whats left.
Back later... ;o)
"we aren't even fighting a majority of the Muslims in Iraq, a country of 25 million. "
Indeed we are not. In fact, our troops and others are working very, very hard, and risking their lives to help the Muslims in Iraq, teach them about a democratic system of government, and more.
Why are we doing that? Because we believe in freedom of religion.
All this nonsense in this thread is what's really anti-American. Ask our troops on the ground in Iraq.
Prove it. Everything we have seen tells us otherwise.
What have you seen that the rest of us haven't?
But your analogy is flawed in that molesting boys isn't official policy of the Catholic church and is not condoned, rather such behavior is not ratified.
However, that we are "infidels" is the official policy of Wahhabi muslims.
One thing that a lot of freepers here tend to miss. Until the founding of this nation, there really wasn't a free Chritian nation.. You had to belong to a certain church... I could be wrong.. I hate to see this nation ban a religion.
Nope it didn't.
And it won't in the future, depending on who's in charge.
Thanks to those who want to protect our enemy, we have already lost. Lost freedoms on airplanes, trains, government buildings, sporting events. Billion$ of dollars taken away from taxpaying US Citizens so these bastards can hide behind a false curtain of religion and plot their overthrow of everything this country used to stand for.
OK,
How many real, live folks have you met, talked to, worked with etc.
I'm just curious. Because I'm hearing lots of radio and TV stuff, but few who are giving first hand, long term, personal experience.
Okay then. How about this? Let's stop giving our tax money to the Shi'te ruling government of Iraq and the Afghan government (normally praised uncritically here) which (again using our tax dollars) have called for suppression of the cartoons?
The statement still stands: "When the right to practice a religion becomes illegal the terrorists have won."
The Koran dies indeed justify all kinds of criminal and oppressive conduct. But so does the Bible, the Torah, and many others. The difference is that Islam has been corrupted to higher degree than any other, even maybe more-so than dark-ages Christianity.
But in the US Islam can adapt, moderates have the chance to prove it. That's why CAIR is doing them such a disservice by not separating effectively the crazies from the majority. But banning Islam in the US only play right into the extremist hands. The slow, assimilation path is the correct one, albeit indeed the hardest.
*shrug* YMMV.
I'm not in favor of adding any more innocent Americans to the sacrificial altar of political correctness.
Declaring it is a fact does not make it so.
I don't believe your "fact" for a second.
The real question here should be:
Is Islam a religion or is it something else?
I believe it is something else.
Our first English ancestors lived in the Netherlands for a while, before sailing here. The Dutch were very tolerant of other religions.
Just like we're losing the war in Iraq 'eh? Ask the media to prove it, I don't need convicing.
I never implied your mind was tiny darlin'.
And yes, Islam isn't a 'good' religion, but again, you're talking to someone who really doesn't see many religions as good or evil. Just human driven.
Again, how much personal experience do you have? How much time have you spent in the ME, how many muslims do you know personally?
We can all thump out "Kill them all" on a computer, but that's the easy part.
What is a 'religion'?
So, opposing the bulldozing of American mosques is suddenly political correctness?
