Zarif: Westerners do not tell the truth
Iran's Permanent Representative to the UN Mohammad-Javad Zarif, addressing the Iranian expatriates residing in the US, said that given your love for your motherland, you should take on to defend the interests and scientific achievements gained by Iranian youth despite sanctions and limitations.
Speaking at a ceremony held on Saturday on the occasion of the 27th anniversary of victory of the Islamic Revolution in New York, he dismissed as a "lie" the charges of the West against Iran that it has been involved in clandestine nuclear activities.
He added that the West has been against Iran's attempt to access nuclear technology for peaceful use in the past.
"Today, we are told to refer to international markets to supply the fuel required by our power plants. But they have forgotten that in addition to that we even purchased the shares of some companies including a French firm.
"However, we did not even get one gram of uranium from these companies, despite possessing 10 percent of their shares," he added.
Zarif noted that 10 years ago, the US did its best to prevent establishment of Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant and the long period of the project, which has set a record in the world, has to do with the obstacles imposed by Washington.
"The same officials now approve of Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant, but are against enrichment process. If we yield to them, whatever decision they make will certainly be to their own needs and demands rather than being based upon our potentials and capabilities.
"Since the onset of the nuclear dossier, we have been trying to do away with worries and avoid any pretext for exertion of pressure upon our peaceful nuclear program. However, it has been constantly subject to such pressure," he added.
He noted that various confidence building proposals were submitted by Iran, which are still valid, adding that limited enrichment and permanent presence of the UN nuclear watchdog inspectors in Iran were included in the country's proposal.
"We believe that possessing atomic bomb not only does not bring security, but that it destroys it. Besides, it is against our religious beliefs.
"From strategic point of view it can make us vulnerable hardly to be stopped. We even consider the idea of possessing atomic bomb destructive," he added.
He said that according to the West's outlook, Iran's current level of authority is problematic to Israel.
"The interests of Iran calls for rejecting any obstacle to our access to nuclear technology for peaceful purposes. In other words, possessing nuclear technology and confidence building should be our objective," added Zarif.

Islamology course to begin in Spain this week
The Spanish government is to hold courses on Islamology and Islamic mysticism for teachers of religious education, the English-language daily `Tehran Times' quoted the Persian service of IRNA on Sunday.
Ahmad Taheri, the teacher of the courses, said that they will begin this week, with the goal of familiarizing Spanish school teachers with Islam.
He added, "They will become familiar with the principles of Islam, characteristics of the religion of Islam, and the views of Islam toward other religions in the Islamology course.
"In addition, the history of mysticism in Islam, the foundations of Islamic mysticism, and mystical literature will be discussed in the course on Islamic mysticism." The courses will last for four weeks, he explained.
The Spanish government has announced its objection to the offensive cartoons of the Prophet Mohammad (peace be upon him) recently published in some Western periodicals and seeks to increase Spaniards' knowledge about Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) and the religion of Islam, the paper wrote.
For those of you in California and Virginai, the Islamology course will be offered to your teachers next year.

Prime Minister Chamberlain is dead however in today's world the "West" knows better then to accept the tripe spewed by those who are focused upon personal political power at the behest of those who strive for personal freedoms.
I think it's "Hand over your family jewels 102"...
Wonder if they'll invite the Whirling Dervishes to whirl and swirl.
Maybe a PBS special can do for Islamic mysticism what they did for Irish step dancing, ala Riverdance.
Better summarized as "all your beheading are belong to us."
Zapatero hates the Catholic Church and grows weak-kneed with adoration at the thought of Islam, since the enemy of his enemy is his friend. Those with an historical bent will remember that the Muslims first got into Spain when they were invited, or rather, hired, by one Spanish king to attack another. Guess who they turned around and attacked immediately after that?
Yes, helped by the Lord of Ceuta in the year 711 to punish D.Rodrigo who was the king in the peninsula at this moment. The who don't learn from his history make the same mistakes again. This is the problem with the illiterate Zapatero and most of the left in Europe. They neither understand nor appreciate the Occidental civilization and think that they can be helped for those who hate Occident without thinking that they would be killed for them after they get the control in Europe.
According to Bambi, it's all okay. After all, with his "alianza de civilizaciones" - which would mean the Muslims would actually have to develop a civilization, first, if he were serious about it - Spain has nothing to worry about.
He's changed his mind. It's now okay for Iran to have and use nuclear bombs against infidels. (He found permission in some obscure passage of the Koran....the one that says lying, cheating, stealing, beheading, murder of infidels is just swell.)
