Major political contributors to George W. Bush who have never given a dime to prospective 2008 Republican presidential candidate John McCain received letters, dated Feb. 8, asking for donations to the senator's Straight Talk America political action committee.
Obviously using President Bush's direct mail list, the letter signed by McCain asks for $1,000 or $1,500 to support candidates agreeing with McCain on "key issues." It specifically lists "limiting federal spending, immigration reform, military readiness, global climate change, Social Security reform, reining-in lobbyists, reducing the power of the special interests and putting an end to wasteful pork barrel spending by Congress."
Each recipient received a card to be filled in for McCain's files. "I'm asking you to update your file card," requests the letter, though the Bush contributors had no previous card in the senator's files.
Assuming of course that Novak is a credible source of information. You all are assuming he is. I haven't seen any McCain mail so I guess Novak is his usual clueless self.
His ugly countenance is just too much to bear when he appears on the air.
Usually it's the dems who are mean faced and mean spirited but Novak beats them all.
i.e., maintenance of a steady flow of illegal cheap labor.
You got that right. The McCain-Kennedy immigration bill is a worthless piece of trash.
I think he's pretty good. He's got quite a few sources in DC...
Novak's sources are those who hate the President as much as he does.
I received a letter from Rudy asking me to donate to Perry but nothing from McCain. Also have received a lot of mail asking for donation mail from people running for various offices outside Oklahoma and I am still on the list for the Victory 2006 which is a spin-off of Bush-Cheney but nothing from McCain.
I think Novak is trying to tie McCain to Bush like Bush is supporting McCain but it won't work -- I still don't like McCain and nothing Novak writes is going to change that fact.
Let's see if I get any solicitation from McCain.
I have twice given the maximum allowed by law to President Bush. I have not received any such letter. As usual, "snaggle-tooth" novak is full of BS!
LLS
Also got a call from Newt's folks.
Said they wanted me to listen to a recorded message from Newt and then tell them what I thought the President was doing right and what he thought I was doing wrong.
Told the man I was not interested and DON'T CALL HERE AGAIN.
I think I got one letter from McCain, which I tossed.
I don't give to the RNC, but I get their letters a few times a year anyway.
I do give some to Phyllis Schafley, but I don't think she'd be selling her mailing list. I would assume that as a Republican, McCain could ask the RNC or similar organizations for lists, and get them.
I'm surprised he's still using that "straight talk" line after the disasters of his last campaign. But I guess when you've spent that much money building an image, you hate to junk it.
McCain is my senator and I don't get mail from him. I only hear from Kyl. I don't want to hear from that albino nutjob either.
Bush happily supported, and signed, McCain's trashing of the First Amendment, so why wouldn't these two professional politicians backscratch each other again?
Not a thin dime from me, though I was a major donor to W in '00 and '02. I'm still getting WH Christmas Cards, invitations etc.
Novak doesn't have to make ties between McCain and Bush. Those ties already exist. Novak is just reporting what his reliable sources are telling him. John McCain could very well be the Republican nominee in 2008. The President wants his policy in the WOT and specifically, he wants his Iraq policy carried out. Who better to do that then John McCain. Bush and McCain also are in agreement on continuing with an open borders policy and illegal immigration.
I received one of these about 2 weeks ago with a yes and no sticker on the front of the envelope. Used the no sticker and wrote NO to John McCain and NO to any money contribution. Mailed the whole letter back to them using their postage paid envelope. ATTN: RNC, YOU WILL NOT GET A DIME OR MY VOTE IF JOHN MCCAIN IS THE NOMINEE...NO MATTER WHAT!!!! I WILL UNPLUG AND STAY HOME.
I agree. We shall see if the people find McCain appealing, once the game is on the line.
I'm rooting for The Lump, and hoping for a massive political enema someday.
The jackass won't get a dime from me! I can't stand the grandstanding, back stabbing jerk RINO.
