ATLANTA25 US Representativesincluding two members of the Georgia delegationhave now signed on as co-sponsors of H. Res 635, demanding a probe which could recommend Bushs impeachment, including the initial sponsor, US Rep. John Conyers (D-MI), Atlanta Progressive News has learned.
If the Democratic Party is able to retake the US House of Representatives, Rep. Conyers would become Chairman Conyers of the House Judiciary Committee, whereas he is currently minority leader on the Committee.
If not acted on this session, the bill would have to be reintroduced next session. It is possible that a new bill could include new language regarding NSA domestic wiretapping.
Sources in Washington DC tell Atlanta Progressive News that H. Res 635 is a venue for coalition among members of Congress who are willing to consider impeachment for a variety of reasons.
Even though H. Res 635 does not specifically reference the NSA domestic wiretapping issue, some Members of US Congress have found the wiretapping issue to be a compelling reason to sign on as a co-sponsor, sources say.
26 US Representatives now total want Bush either to face an impeachment probe or to resign. US Rep. Bobby Rush (D-IL) is the representative who has called for Bushs resignation, according to a World Cant Wait statement issued to Atlanta Progressive News.
Two (2) Members of US Congress signed on yesterday, February 14, 2006, including US Rep. Gwen Moore (D-WI) and US Rep. Nydia Velazquez (D-NY), according to thomas.loc.gov. Since APNs last story on H. Res 635, US Rep. Mike Honda (D-CA), also signed on, having done so on February 8, 2006. Press representatives for Reps. Moore, Velazquez, and Honda were not immediately available for comment.

Good luck, ladies. ROFL
John Conyers has been filing the same bill for years.
Madness rules.
Well, here on FR we have been saying that the libs will try to bring W up on impeachment since his re-election in '04. I am just surprised that it is taking them so long.
They can please their constituents at no political cost, so why not?
(Denny Crane: "I Don't Want To Socialize With A Pinko Liberal Democrat Commie. Say What You Like About Republicans. We Stick To Our Convictions. Even When We Know We're Dead Wrong.")
In the eyes of some on FR, I guess he is the second most important member of the House after Tancredo.
How does it feel to "want" John?
Exactly. And I hear Conyers wife is quite the bar fighter. LOL
We knew when he won the last election this was coming, so what took them so long?
I think this is a sign that there should be a big investigation into all these leaks to see where they came from.
Apply a twenty year sentence on any reporter who refuses to give up sources and give lots of time in jail if not a hanging to those who gave away important secrets, like that we were wiretapping terrorists.
Probably trying to deflect the attn from themselves......
So, are they saying they want President Cheney?
Of that 25% probably only 9% vote and the rest are either children or think like children.
Democrats on autopilot at mach 1 toward the shear granite WALL of political death.
True dat. :-)
I see along with Jim McDermott, the Congressional Black Caucus is well represented.
Are you sure you're not confusing him with someone else? I've never seen a single pro-Conyers post on FR.
Even if Democrats win the House (*IF*), there is no way in hell they could muster 66 votes in the Senate to remove Bush from office.
If the GOP loses the House, a Democrat-controlled house WILL impeach the president.
Even if the GOP loses the Senate, I don't think Bush would be convicted. No way 67 senators would be on board with that.
The thing is that dealing with a House impeachment probe will be enourmously distracting to the admin. It's a dangerous time for the feds to be distracted.
One-issue Freepers who have a pathological need to be important, who petulantly insist they will 'stay home' unless the GOP is much more aligned with their values, should realize this.
