 BBC bosses are ready to AXE a £1million episode of hit drama Spooks in which an al-Qaeda terrorist is shot dead — in case it upsets Muslims.

Filming the assassination plot for the MI5 drama took four weeks.

But actor Shaun Dingwall who plays a renegade Christian gunman, fears he could become a target for fundamentalists if the scene is aired.

In the episode, due to be shown later this year, a religious nut played by Shaun, 35, guns down the fanatic on the steps of London’s High Court.

But production sources admitted it could be canned. One said: “In the climate of Muslim fury over cartoons, Shaun isn’t sure about it all.”

Shaun refused to comment last night.

But Sun security adviser Andy McNab urged the BBC to keep the scene. He said: “Self-censorship would be the thin end of the wedge.”

Labour MP Stephen Pound added: “Giving terrorists a veto over what is shown on TV is the road to madness.

“Al-Qaeda will be objecting to Gardener’s Question Time next. Where does it stop?”

A show spokesman said: “Spooks examines numerous threats facing the UK. Producers, along with Shaun, will track the storyline’s sensitivities in light of the ever-changing news agenda.”

 

 

		I love this series and for the BBC to start chopping it about, or not airing incase it causes offence is just another example of how our society is being forced to change unneccesarily. When is somebody going to stick up for what the majority are feeling at having our way of life trampled upon, our freedoms that were once so dear to us being eroded? It is far, far better for the MSM to put stories of how US Soldiers abuse terrorists at Al Ghraib Prison - in an effort to redirect anger at American soldiers, than to actually publish anything at all that may anger even the angriest of Muslims. Right there on CNN’s website you have a picture of "The Holy Virgin Mary" by British artist Chris Ofili. He used elephant dung and images of female genitalia in that ‘work’.

This garbage posing as ‘art’ was deemed offensive to Christians. CNN had no qualms about showing it and offending Christians. It has remained on their web site until today. Nearly five years now.

Now the violent Muslims are rampaging and burning things - again - about a few cartoons, and CNN says, “CNN has chosen to not show the cartoons out of respect for Islam.”

Haven't seen Bauer snuff any muzzies this season. Bad guys are too generic. They do what muzzies do, but it is never even implied that's what they are, even though, no other group seems to fit the profile of these "generic" terrorists. something about being ticked off at Russia, suicidal, but no indication as to their identity, yet.

If it turns out at some point that they are identified as some right wing group .... I tune out.

Unfortunately it looks like MI5 is actually off the air in the US. A&E was buying it season by season, they haven't announced a run date for season four yet or added it to their long term show schedules, and they removed references to it from their website. If we in the US want to see the show, it looks like we'll have to wait for the DVD's.

Personally I thought the show went downhill a bit after Series 2 anyway. It started out great, but by the end of Season 3 was getting a bit touchy feely. When all of the original actors started bailing, it was probably a sign that something was going very wrong with the show.

I'd probably watch seasons 4 and 5 if they aired in the US, but I'm not going to shell out for the DVD's. It IS far better written than 24 and gives a much more realistic view of what the life of a modern spy and counter-terrorist agent are like. It's fascinating stuff, even if the story was getting a bit stale by the end of that last US season.
