WASHINGTON — The Senate Democratic leader, Harry Reid (search) of Nevada, suffered a brief mini-stroke Tuesday, but doctors found no complications and he feels fine, aides said Friday....

Asked why announcement of the event was delayed for three days, Hafen said, "The reason was the tests and the evaluations that they were doing. We wanted to make sure we knew what we were announcing. You need conclusive information."

"A goldminer's son".

What does that have to do with anything? Why does the Associate Press feel it is necessary to put Harry Reid's father's occupation in the article? Simply amazing.

Teddy Kennedy waited overnight to let Mary Jo drown completely before he could be bothered to remember that he had had a little car accident.

Yet these people are jumping all over Cheney for trying to help his friend before he talked to the press.

Must be some more of that compassion tehy're so famous for.

You got to love these dumbocRATS, the more they put their feet in their mouths, the better it becomes for us in 2006/08 elections, even in the blue States!!!

Jan. 22, 1998: Clinton reiterates his denial of the relationship and says he never urged Lewinsky to lie. Starr issues subpoenas for a number of people, as well as for White House records. Starr also defends the expansion of his initial Whitewater investigation. Jordan holds a press conference to flatly deny he told Lewinsky to lie. Jordan also says that Lewinsky told him that she did not have a sexual relationship with the president.

They were "right" because blow jobs are not sexual relationship in their "kooksville-minds"!!!

And I didn't see David Gregory getting upset over this.

To be honest I think they are very different matters. I disagree with the media that holding back this information for a day was some terrible sin but being involved in a hunting accident that involves someone else, and having a private medical condition are too very different things.

Reid had a stroke!!!

Who the hell would have known -- he's constantly spastic and auto reflexive...

Secondly - who would have cared?

"Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid at a press conference Tuesday said the secretive tendency goes beyond Cheney, pervading the entire Bush White House. Also of note was a large amount of drool coming from the senator's mouth and a slur in his speech. But of particular note was what seemed like Bell's Palsy in the senator's face a condition that is usually common in stroke victims. Surely the senator hasn't suffered a stroke and is hiding it. David Gregory has been sent in to cover for the senator and further smear the Bush Administration as much as humanly possible.

Well, I agree they are. But we clearly disagree with which one is more important for us to know. The hunting accident (in this case - I would feel differently if Cheney had been the one who was shot) did nothing to impair any of our political leaders.
Reid's TIA certainly did impact his ability to act as Minority Leader and Senator. I know people who have had these TIA's, and they do matter.

Are you saying that a Dem. majority leader and Senator is not important enough to worry about? (I might agree with that, but let's be clear about why)

"Talk about secrecy. The vice president accidentally shoots someone and keeps that a secret for nearly a day. That man is now very sick," Reid, D-Nev., told reporters Tuesday.

Must have been the stroke talking.

Well obviously the stroke was talking. The article does say "Reid, D-Nev., told reporters Tuesday."

Reid, what a stroke.

Well...it is terrible that some smalltown Texas paper actually put the information out to the world, when we could have had Wolf Blitzer personally do it. I suggest that Cheney take along Wolf on all future hunting trips (unarmed of course...I don't think Wolf can handle a shotgun), and let Wolf report the facts as he sees them. And....if in some way....Cheney repeats the accident again...and wings Wolf...then Wolf can go live and broadcast his interview with Cheney while the ambulance wheels him away. This would help booster CNN's ratings and Wolf's a strong guy anyway...he'd be standing while giving the interview and never say a word when they dab the wounds with alcohol. And this way...CNN gets the story it wants, and Cheney doesn't even have to do a press conference.

A Democratic leader could hide a stroke indefinately, as they start out brain dead anyway. Nobody would notice if they babbled and drooled instead of speaking sense.
