I hope we don't have to spill more American blood to pull socialist Europe's butt out of the fire one more time.

A part of me NEVER again wants an ounce of blood spilled for those countries that mock us and resisted us since WWII. We should only help people who fight like true warriors against the evil of Islam. For all other countries, we should only take their beautiful women in as refugees (sorry, I just had to have a bit of fun). Let the weak men of these nations fend for themselves.

Socialism and liberalism are no match for islam, but Christianity is. Wow. What a powerful though

I second that, a powerful statement!

Right wing Europeans are typically to the left of the average Democrat just to put it into prospective...

They need to be reminded. Here is a cartoon that kind of sums it up that everybody can understand. Well, except maybe for the stuck on stupid types. http://kokonutpundits.blogspot.com/2006/02/cartoon-that-everybody-can-understand.html

Do the Europeans sense that the more open, free-wheeling and non-judgmental the culture, the more it is hated by the jihadists? If Europe as a whole is more pro-Palestinian than the United States, disapproved of Iraq, and yet is still hated as much, is magnanimity at last exposed as appeasement—earning only contempt from an emboldened enemy?

For the past three years the post-colonial Europeans have wished the Americans to learn their imperial lessons by failing in Iraq.

Correct. The motivation there was that the U.S. be humbled in counterpoint to the fall of the Soviet Union, so that the world would return to the sort of balance of power in which states with no investment in military power would enjoy disproportionate political influence without giving up the social benefits that they had managed to gather. The underlying assumption was that the Islamist threat was magnified on the part of Washington for imperialist purposes and was no real threat to Europe. That assumption turned out to be incorrect.

The threat always was real, but it becomes more alarming as Iran pursues nuclear weapons in complete disregard of every internationalist device the Europeans can bring to bear - negotiation, outright bribery, disapprobrium, sanction. Those were the weapons of a civilization enlightened beyond the necessities of crude killing. The enlightenment was incorrect as well.

Unfortunately the reflex of the intellectual culture that still prevails in European politics is first to deny the threat and second to deflect blame to ideological opponents. We have already seen a full measure of this in the European media. It won't do - the Islamists don't need to be a majority of the immigrants, even, they simply need the critical mass that they have already attained. It is too late, I think, for the ones who endlessly temporize and theorize to learn better; it is not yet too late for the ones who already know better to take charge.

They'll attack islamo-fascism with unparalled zeal, just to show the world that they are NOT eunuchs.

No, they won't, because the ARE eunuchs. Just my guess of course.

I'm torn on this.
I'm 38. My first memory of international affairs is of the Iranian hostage crisis and ever since then I've seen islamofascist lunacy and violence all over the planet. I'm absolutely sick of it and want to see it come to a head before I die.

But on the other hand, if it happens it's going to be so terrible..

"He worries me. Some say he's the AC."

He's not going to get nearly as far as Hitler got. Iran is not an economic power and even less so a military power. Take out oil and they produce nothing.

I'll be surprised if he lives another 5 years.

"When (and if) they do, Islam is finished in Europe, forever. Socialism and liberalism are no match for islam, but Christianity is."

Dream on, Crusader! However, we (the US) can't allow a mooslim takeover of France- They have nukes!

"I wish this were true. Europe's 'foundation' is the Christian faith, which they haven't come back to yet. When (and if) they do, Islam is finished in Europe, forever. Socialism and liberalism are no match for islam, but Christianity is."

Now that comment above is profound wisdom. They will come back to Christ and this foe will be defeated.

I hear ya. We won't let them twist and die. As Americans, we are taught that sacrificing our lives saving others from tyranny is well, what makes us Americans.

I read in a story on yahoo, that Jyllands Posten created trouble in the sixties as well by attacking Khrutsjef (sp?). The paper was known for a heavy anti-communism stance.

From the article:

Instead, by letting the Europeans take the lead with the Iranian negotiations, and keeping nearly silent about the cartoon hysteria, the United States essentially has told the Europeans, “Here is the sort of restrained sober and judicious global diplomacy that you so welcome.”

Bingo! This guy is tee-rific.

Sorry, as much as I'd love to take in their beautiful women, I'm already taken. No additional beautiful women for me.

Cheers!

They're here, too. There are 25 mosques in the area of Mobile AL alone.

Conservatives under Rome had it a lot worse than we do.

I think you have said the blunt truth. That was Churchill's view - and it's mine.

I have to say from the UK - this article seems about right. Sometimes history does not unfold and one expects.

Who would have thought 10 cartoons in a Danish paper would begin to galvanize a lethargic Europe.

But don't expect too much - not yet anyway. there is a change in mood music Turkey hopefully is now out of the EU question and there will be some other benefits.

but folks - don't expect many Europeans to like you or Bush - you are not going to be thanked for policing the globe and sending your young men to fight for our interests as well as yours.

There is much I love about Europe, the landscape and a general civility - but it is an old man and suffering from arthritis. He cannot change direction easily and living is suffering from mild dementia - disorientated to the present and living in the past.

But dear FRiends be gentle, if we fall a band of good men and women will go down too. And they will go down fighting.

the next few years will be crucial. the window of opportunity is closing (No it isn't closed!).

prayers and encouragement for the remnant rather than blanket condemnation is what we need.

kind regards.

We're going to end up in this together, again. I've sworn up and down (on this site and in front of my peers) I'd never lift a finger for france or germany for any reason, and that I'd give up my commission before I'd serve to protect either of those thankless whore-countries.

But what happens to franco-germania will happen to Britain, Spain, Italy and probably Poland, whom I actually do feel loyalty towards as fairly reliable allies. If this hits the fan like we think it will over the next five years I'll probably end up eating my words. Damn, I hope I at least get stationed in Italy!

So, long answer/comment to your eloquent post, my guess is we're going to be there for you militarily (if it ever gets to that), but its going to be a long, lonely time before we get our asses in gear. Just like the 1938-1942 time frame. I hope you know how to keep your powder dry.
