Wallace T you are absolutely right!
I'm looking from the outside into what is happening to this great country of yours, occasions like this show us beyond any reasonable doubt which party is dividing your country. Not only those active in politics but those who's reign is long gone! Jimmy Carter becomes more unhinged with age. Please find a way of keeping him out of the "public eye"! He was a disaster as a leader but he is worst now.
GW makes me angry when he does not roll up his sleeves and give back a few. However, this was not the occasion! This was a time to act with class which GW has plenty of. Carter did not, in the end, do himself any flavors. It's just that he is not " bright enough" to realize it! The "dumbocrats" create their own downfall. Long live GW.

There are times when a Christian should turn the other cheek, but there are times when he should sell his cloak and buy a sword (not a Bible, as it did not exist circa 30 AD, but a metal object with a handle on one end and a sharp point on the other.) Jesus Christ said both things. If Jesus is the Son of God and the second Person in the Trinity, and the Bible is reliable, then Jesus, being all knowing, does not contradict himself and He uttered both statements. It appears that the specifics of the situation dictate the response. Does not the author of the Book of Ecclesiastes say that there is a time for war and a time for peace?
The liberals and Marxists are enemies of America and their goal is to utterly transform society, overturning and subordinating church, family, business, private associations, and local governments in subordination to an all-powerful central government and into adherence to a relativistic, hedonistic moral code. If successful, they would destroy America as surely as the Islamofascists would, and the Communists or the Nazis would have. I would say we should be on a war footing to these enemies.

There are people who decide for whom this is appropriate and for whom it is not. If you had been on that list, you probably would have gotten the e-mail.

I know you have only been a Freeper since last July, but really, I thought you would have learned something by now.

I am struck that by attacking Bush for the war in Iraq and surveilling the terrorists to protect his constituency, the American people, Lowery and Carter might as well have suggested the Kings not have jeopardized themselves, family and associates by leading the civil rights struggle to advance the interests of their constituency, African Americans. Leadership is about taking risk to achieve your ends. Bush has it; the Kings had it. Lowery and Carter? I think not.

Thanks for the ping, Coop. I didn't have access to a television during the service, so I have only seen and heard clips and read some of the live thread. I didn't realize the order of the speakers, either.
This is a wonderful article, and I thank you again for calling it to my attention.

The only CLASS evident at Coretta Scott King's funeral was by her four children, George H.W. Bush, George W. Bush, and Laura Bush.

I agree. But those words of Scripture cannot be used to attack the President's strength, IMO.
He is a man of prayer, and there are literally millions of people praying for him. Perhaps his use of the sword in some places (which you cannot deny that he has done) and his turning the other cheek in others (like in the face of petty partisan attacks like at the funeral, and from the press), is the result of God's leading, and not politics.
At any rate, it is just not accurate to say he is weak or allowing himself to be a doormat. The facts just don't back it up.
He is doing more damage to the left than any leader in American history. The Dem party is marginalized and falling apart. I don't think that's accidental........God is in it because the left is evil, and President Bush is God's willing servant placed in authority by HIM.

I simply don't think she deserved it - its my opinion.
Do you have a problem with my expressing my opinion she didn't deserve it? From what I heard, her family made a fat profit from King's speeches in fees charged to use them. Pretty mercenary it seems to me.
Besides, I'd love to see what is in that secret file on King the Federal Government ordered sealed.

He sounds like a defiant teenager. He says he's married, so he's probably at least 19.......
(As one who has taught at all grade levels through adults, I'd say emotionally around 13, but then, if he's a leftist, he could be 65 and sound the same way..... ;).

...back in the day, some people went to into the jail alive and ended up dead. So it was a brave thing for her to do. She could have ended up dead like countless others. Even white people were not spared violence if they associated with the civil rights movement. How many of us today have the courage to put our very lives on the line for what we believe in?

If I was I know how I would have voted and I think I know how you would have voted.
I don't think she deserved it.
And I don't think MLK deserves a National Holiday either.
But I guess you don't agree with that either.

No, I don't have any problem with your stating your opinion that you don't think she deserved the honor she received.
But I do have a problem with your calling the President a vile name because he attended her funeral, and then by backing it up with emotional outbursts and incorrect information.
