Scranton has dropped out of the gubernatorial race, making Lynn Swann a virtual lock for the endorsement, without a primary.
No link just yet, it was breaking news on the TV broadcast.

The double thumbs up Swannie gave the crowd on Sunday must have made Scranton choke on a Dorito.

A Rendell embrace of the Champion Steelers just got a little dicey.

MD, PA, OHSomething tells me that Oreo cookies will be very hard to find in those three states as the Dims stock up for the campaigns.

That must be a real bummer for all those who still live in Scranton.... Not being able to vote and all, ya know. 8<)

Very good news. Scranton represents the old Rockefeller wing of the Republican Party that was largely read out of the party in 1964. Now all Penna has to do is get rid of Specter.

It was completely spontaneous. Fast Eddie was on the dias too...Swann is sooo classy though. He smiled (at the governor chants) and said...'today is about the black and gold.'
Gov. Lynn Swann, (R PA) has a really nice ring to it.
To: Petronski
With Swann attracting a big GOP turn-out, this could save Rick Santorum. Good news indeed.

They can still vote, but the city must be really bummed out on losing. First it loses it's "CSI: Scranton" TV show before it even got out of the development phase and now has to pull out of the race. It must feel like a small town right now.

"How much do you want to bet that Rendell's on the phone to Chuck Schumer right now, asking if he can borrow a couple of staffers to do a little "opposition research?" It would be nice if Swannee's ole' teammates were willing to "meet" with them, preferably in a dark alley, then go on to volunteer as poll watchers in the Philadelphia area.
