George Bush's Campaign Team Joining John McCain

With the 2008 presidential election less than three years away, more than a few members of President Bush's campaign team have begun to migrate to the current GOP frontrunner, Sen. John McCain.

According to Newsweek magazine, Mark McKinnon, Bush's longtime media adviser, has told the president he's ready to leap aboard McCain's "Straight Talk Express," unless brother Jeb or Condoleezza Rice change their minds and get into the race.

Among Bush fundraisers, the biggest catch, says Newsweek, is Tom Loeffler, a former congressman from San Antonio, who is a Bush-family loyalist and helped build Bush's money machine in 2000.

Ron Weiser, who was Bush's finance chairman in Michigan in 2000, has also joined McCain.

However, in a bizarre observation considering the Arizona maverick's frontrunner status, McKinnon told Newsweek: "I'd rather lose with McCain than win with somebody else."

Other presidential hopefuls scouting for campaign talent include Tennessee Sen. Bill Frist, Virginia Sen. George Allen and Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney.

Notably absent from the competition: former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani, who was leading McCain in most GOP presidential preference polls last year - but has done little to advance a presidential bid lately.

Then be prepared to lose, McKinnon. There's no way you're going to 'sell' John "Who stole the strawberry ice cream?" McLame to me. And I am as much the base as anyone.

If McCain is the candidate, I'll have a date with bar on election day and drink to the demise of our nation. Cheers to President Hitlery...

McCain/ Spector Ticket. It has everything. West/East. North/South. Military/Industry. And most of all the media love them both because they're not conservative.

I can't feature putting a loon in the White House,... both McManiac and Hitlery fill that bill.

We need to nominate somebody else.

You have to just keep on keeping on, don't let the buzzards get you down. That's how it has always worked.

Better McCain than the serpent Hillary

As a conservative, McCain represents everything I can't stand about the republican party...

Choosing between McCain and Hillary is like trying to pick out the best turd in a cesspool.

I won't even waste my time going to the voting booth.

So will the others.

The false pubs will have an easier time of it.

This doesn't seem to be a prudent career move, does it?

I am for Allen, too.

GOP puts McCainiac on their ballot and I'm voting LP. I could no more vote for that gun-grabbing SOB than I could Hitlery.

Allen or Pence I could vote for. Be smart for a change GOP. Don't piss off your base.

"McCain is the candidate, I stay home. No more Dole's, thank you."

Sorry can't stomach that man. I will ignore all campaigning, and sign off from FR.

This man is a dinosaur. If this is our best, I am refraining from voting...

Slightly disturbing, but I'm not too worried at this point. The election's still almost three years away.

McCain and Hitlery are twins separated at birth as far as I am concerned. Anyone who combines efforts with Teddy, is just as bad as Hitlery.

The only "reaching across the isle" I want the GOP to do doing would be to put a "Kick Me" sign on Schumer's back.

Not going out for tea, crumpets, and scotch with the Swimmer.

Reagan wasn't sitting idly as a long term senator. He was gov of Ca. successful two terms. Our pool of governors is where we get out successful candidates, NOT senators. Most senators elected Pres, are not successful and historically HAVE NOT FINISHED THEIR TERM AS PRESIDENT. They die in office.

Have a nice day. Again if this is all they got, they got nothing... I'm staying home.
