I recall reading shorting after 9/11 that only certain members of Congress would be briefed because it was highly classified information
I don't know if FISA had anything to do with it .. they never said what it was about .. just that the WH was worried about leaks coming out of Congress
Also .. for some reason I'm thinking of the bunker to keep certain members of congress in, in case of a full scale attack on DC

Gonzales: Can Congress constitutionally restrict the ability of the president of the US in listening to the enemy in the time of war? I don't think we need to answer that question because Congress did authorize the president to listen to the enemy.
Sessions: Gorelick defended President Clinton during a time of peace not war to use the same power.

Just tuned into this, and don't have time to read all previous posts, but could someone please explain to me why they are having a public hearing on this. I thought because they were to be discussing a classified program it was to be in private?
