It is arguable that the ball crossed the plane while BS was in the air, but clearly when he came down, it was well short of the goal line. But that is not one of the calls that I am mad about; I am mad about the pushoff call on DJ, and the holding call on the Stevens catch at the 2 yard line. Those were the game-breakers.
Yup. Those two alone make it 24-21 Seattle.
It's great that we got there. The refs stunk, but we probably lost to them anyway.
It's too bad we couldn't have said we just lost, without feeling like the refs were against us from the beginning.
But there it is. At least we got to play there.
I really liked the one where they flagged Hasselbeck for a personal foul for a low block, when he was actually making a legal tackle after an interception. My buddy and I looked at each other and said "this thing is rigged".
I agree. Those 2 calls were game breakers.
They weren't at their best tonight....not by a long chalk, but seeing as they're the first six seed to go all the way, that's to be expected. Seattle had a bye, then two home games, then another two week break, so they should have looked the fresher of the two teams.
Bad calls are bad calls. They happen all the time but you can't the game on them. To me, the game breakers were Rothlisberger's scramble and toss to Hines Ward at the 2 yard line which resulted in the Steeler's first touchdown and Hasselback's pick late in the game which ended up with Randle El's gadget play to Ward for a TD.
