As a Niner fan, I had to accept that fact in a 2003 playoff game when a non-interference call after that infamous bad snap doomed a game-winning field goal attempt for the NY Giants.
You're going to hear a lot more "whining" in the days to come on sports radio call-in shows-and just like this thread, it won't all be from Seattle fans.
I just watched an early morning rerun of sportscenter on ESPN. They asked Sean Salisbury if he thought Roth made his touchdown. His answer: "No. Absolutely not."
Yeah, the breaks and big plays went the Steeler's way and that really told the tale of the game. Seahawks had a bunch of momentum killers (missed field goals, flags at the absolute wrong moment, dropped balls), and they didn't really try anything on offense to break that sense of swimming upstream. The Steelers had their end-around, bootleg passes and halfback passes to create big plays -- the Seahawks continued to play it pretty close to the vest even when the game was in a bad pattern for them.
The Hawks had a team speed advantage, but never capitalized on it and never really tried to do anything out of the ordinary -- which given the outcome and with hindsight I'd have liked to see them try something out of character to break the game's pattern.
hey, if you say stupid stuff, you leave an ETHER TRAIL ,and there is B documenting each little tidbit! love it! LOL!!
you know what the difference is? that steeler baby is crying tears of JOY.... : )
I'll say 4 years. Their division will also tighten up about then.
OK, so the Steelers either kick the FG, run it in on 4th down, or get stopped. End result? Final score 17-10, 21-10, or 14-10. Seattle loses. Why fuss about the TD? Don't say it 'demoralized' Seattle. If it did, they deserve to lose.
All I have to say is that I predicted right here on FR that the Steelers would pull it out over the starbucks liberals from the northwest. Man, when I looked around the stands, all that I saw were Steeler jerseys.
Maybe George Bush and Karl Rove got ahold of the refs before the game and had it rigged as payback for such a blatantly liberal city like Seattle? :) There ya go Hawks fans......Bush did it!!!! :)
Add to that really poor clock management before halftime and at the end of the game.
The Hawks weren't ready for prime time.
[[The only thing Seattle had going in this game was a solid defense, which spent so much time concentrating on the line of scrimmage they couldn't stop big plays. Because of that, they gave up 21 points--which no serious person can challenge.]]
Dont forget the fact that every time that the Steelers punted that Seattle was the beneficiary of excellent field position around the 50 yard line.
The Steelers did not settle down until the second half and the offense made some hugh plays when it counted but you gotta hand it to the defense that contained the top rated passer who threw the ball 49 times last night. It wasn't pretty but Seattle just plain got out played. Way ta Goooooo Steelers!
Way ta Goooooooo Steelers!
False premise. He obviously did have an interest in one of the teams, even if only for one game.
Worst officiated Playoffs in NFL history, an embarrassment.
That's not the one I was thinking of. I was thinking of the 1983 game. Oklahoma got the ball down close at the end. Nebraska lost the Orange Bowl to Miami.
LOL
Riiiiiiight.
I thought some bad calls helped the Steelers, but had the Seahawks done their job it wouldnt have mattered.
They did do their job the 1st half, but the 2nd half they just didnt do enough imo. If a team allows the game to be close enough for a few bad calls to matter, I blame them because they should expect that. The Seahawk receivers dropped half a dozen well thrown passes that mattered.
That, in the end was the difference imo and I cant blame the zebras for dropped passes.
Congrats to the Steelers for their 5th SB win.
I think somebody better call you a Waaahhhhmbulance.
