Good morning, all.

Join us today for the final victory lap, the vote to "confirm Samuel Alito, of New Jersey, to be an Associate Justice of the Supreme Court."

It's all over except the final vote tally.

Lots of surprises yesterday at the HUGE vote to impose cloture, so perhaps there are still some surprise votes to come?

Notice the inconsistency? The Democrats say that President Bush was determined to appoint a "right-winger" who would uphold his supposed presidential power grabs. They then complain that the President's choice of Harriet Miers was torpedoed by the "radical right". Well, which is it? If Harriet Miers was an acceptable choice to the Democrats, as they now claim she was, if she was a choice that could have "united" us all, then President Bush must not be determined to pack the court with judges that will uphold his alleged power grabs.

These clowns can't even keep their lies straight.

You'd think that ONE Dem senator would use a few minutes to congratulate Justice Alito, wish him wel and hope that he excercises judicial wisdom and temperment in the future..

This is not the Dem Party of our parents generation

They have no honor .. nor respect for the court

Of course, Dean may want to see what he can dig up, assuming that the enemy (the GOP) can dig it up too. Pre-emptive research. I hope that that's not what is happening. It's good spin for Dean, though.

Didn't Hill do that on Bill once when he was governor? The dirt is so caked in that relationship that the light of my memory no longer goes through.

So, if the vote doesn't happen at 11:00 on the nose, are the dems going to claim another victory?

These are the kinds of victory we should be happy to give.

He just stepped in it if he's Minority Leader for next SCOTUS nominee. paraphrasing here "not one qualified woman to sit on the bench?"

Please nominate JRB for the next spot.

Reid just gave Bush his head on a platter.
