Good morning, all.

Join us today for the final victory lap, the vote to "confirm Samuel Alito, of New Jersey, to be an Associate Justice of the Supreme Court."

It's all over except the final vote tally.

Lots of surprises yesterday at the HUGE vote to impose cloture, so perhaps there are still some surprise votes to come?

Fox is saying he is going to be sworn in at the Supreme Court shortly.
@@@@@

I would love to be in DC now to hear and see the President's motorcade going to the Supreme Court. It will make even more heads explode. Laura Ingraham was saying on her show this morning that the protesters are walking around. They will enjoy/not seeing that motorcade!

Oh, they think they have the votes. They think they are the mainstream. If their senators would only understand the far left is the mainstream, but they all seem so dense...

I really read that on DU yesterday.

I can't get into DU either. They haven't officially shut it down, but I guess too many people going there to laugh at their nonsense right now.
I guess they decided if Democratic Senators only get one vote each, it's time to take the server down and not play anymore!

I have not seen one good reason posted on the board in defense of the dems not filibustering

There was a great one posted yesterday. Apparently, there was a trade off between the parties. The Democrats "allow" Alito to be confirmed, and in exchange, the Republicans "allow" Bush to be impeached. Yeah, a DUmmie really did post that.

42 oppose....large enough to filibuster. Not a great statement on Alito.

I'd say it isn't a great statement on Democrats, but I suppose we view things a bit differently.

To see all the effort the Dems put forth against Alito makes this victory so sweet. It is a great day in America. Defeated Democrats just make my day.

I think the gloating would have been toned down if not for that political stunt pulled by Kerry.

Excellant title.......... ... high-priestess of The Infantadah. I like it. I may just have to borrow that for a future tagline. ;)

Just out of curiosity, if the final vote had been 98-2, would his votes on the Supreme Court carry any more weight?

Politically, yes. But not directly, in the cases. There he is one of nine.

I predicted 59-41. I guess I thought Landrieu would vote "aye". In a way I'm glad she didn't, since it'll now be easier to defeat her in 2008.

I'll say. I'll be happy to remind my fellow Louisianans of that fact from now until 2008.
