GOLETA, Calif. (AP) -- A Santa Barbara County Fire captain says two people are dead and at least two others wounded in a shooting at a postal facility in Goleta.
Fire Captain Keith Cullom says the two injured were taken to the hospital in critical condition. He was not able to confirm if there are additional victims.
Cullom says the gunman remains at large while one of the victims was close to the building entrance and was pulled out by a paramedic.

News said it was a sorting facility. Very strange.

Wonder what the shooter's screen name at DU is. I know there were upset today but to go postal....whew.
Seriesly, some of those paramedics equal a soldier in battle with their heroics. Ping me for a catch-up?

What is it about working for the US postal service?
Maybe it's that gunmen can kill with impunity, since they know none of their victims are going to be packing.

Seriesly, some of those paramedics equal a soldier in battle with their heroics. That's for sure. Will try to ping for updates, but hitting the hay pretty soon. I'm sure there will be a LOT more on this by morning.

Heard this on my tv news at 10. I never understood the postal aspect. I've generally found the DMV to raise far more ire than a postal facility.

I rode my bike past that facility at about 8:50 tonight. When I left Kmart at 9:15 or so (a block away from the office), I heard the sirens zooming past. Scary.

Is this the postal facility between UCSB's Francisco Torres dormitories and K-Mart along Storke Road?

I live about a half mile away in IV. Rode my bike down Storke to get to Kmart, but decided to take El Colegio (which runs parallel) back home. Heard sirens heading towards the facility right around 9:15 (I suspect that the shooting took place a few minutes earlier, in the 9:05-9:10 range).
At around 9:20 I saw two police cycles jetting down El Colegio but didn't know what was happening until about 20 min. ago.
It's basically a large sorting facility set back from the road a few hundred feet. Can't imagine what went down there.
