Remarks by Senator McClintock Before the Senate Transportation Committee I want to begin by applauding the administration for finally focusing the government=92s attention on our long-neglected public works.
I have often lamented the climacteric that befell our state in 1974 with the election of Gov. Jerry Brown and the introduction of a radical and retrograde ideology. He called it his =93era of limits.=94 It was punctuated with such new age nonsense as the mantra =93small is beautiful.=94 I think it can best be described as the na=EFve notion that if we stopped building things, people would stop coming.
So we stopped building highways; we stopped building water projects; we stopped building houses and electricity plants. And people came anyway. And now we=92re dealing with the result.
That ideology permeated two Democratic and two Republican administrations, and I am very glad to see this administration breaking from this folly.
But as pertains to this specific proposal, I would like to offer a few general observations. Read the entire speech |

Surprisingly it lacks his latest missive to the party mechanisms extolling the virtues of partisanship over principle.

I'd much prefer having Tom McClintock as Governor than Lieutenant Governor. It is unfortunate he is not more widely known throughout the nation. Tom McClintock is the most principled elected official I know of today. He would make a great President of these United States of America capable of righting our floundering ship.

Surprisingly it lacks his latest missive to the party mechanisms extolling the virtues of partisanship over principle. You know that's not true.
His attempts to unite the party to fight the democrats is principled and you know it.
Here's the "missive" you're misrepresenting.

Yeah, this is more along the lines of what the OBL/RNC cheerleaders on Free Republic LOVE to support...
Brokeback Republican!
SchwarzenKennedy
Specter and his "Buddies" in the Old Boy Club!
GWB's new "Brother"!
As loopy as Pat is, and a much as I loathe his pro-Islamazi stand...he's still better than YOUR boys!
But, Tom Tancredo and McClintock are just not what you R(I)N(O)C types like, becuase they don't tow your OBL/pro-Illegal Infiltrator/Big Gub/Mint line.

Was Tom out on term limits and having to run for this to stay publicly employed?
I wonder if the State legislators have term limits?
Do all CA elected positions at this time have term limits?

His attempts to unite the party to fight the democrats is principled and you know it. Almost. I suspect McClintock was motivated by principles, but offer a small disclaimer since my observation was based on Stephen Frank's blog, not McClintock's letter to the delegates. McClintock's recent, unpublished communication, was apparently principled enough to prompt Frank's criticism.
Partisan principles born of mortal fears evoked in the candidate's campaign by threats from the gang's financiers.
