Where are all the Long Island Freepers?
Real Life | Sailor Kenshin

Posted on 01/29/2006 4:19:10 PM PST by Sailor Kenshin

Where are the Long Island Freepers? I never see any countering the filthy hippie leftovers who appear on every nice weekend on the corner of Rt. 25A in Setauket, with their flag-draped coffins and their signs screaming "Bush lied, kids died!"

Their latest trick is to appear in orange jumpsuits with black underwear on their heads to simulate the "torture" imposed on those poor innocents in Abu Ghraib. I suspect they sort of like the get-up.

I always oblige them with a digital salute, but I feel our side is under-represented here.

Thanks for the pings regarding the WRAMC question.

The DC Chapter didn't hold demonstrations outside WRAMC, because it's not an appropriate place for a political demonstration.

In March of 2004, when Code Pink and other leftist groups staged a funereal marck from Dover AFB in Delaware to WRAMC in DC, members of the DC Chapter went to WRAMC and voiced our objection to the gruesome display of cardboard coffins, black wreaths and black outfits, noisemakers, and the rest of their crap, at a hospital where our soldiers lay healing from their wounds.

Code Pink and the leftists did not stage another protest with WRAMC as a backdrop until a year later, on March 30, 2005.

We were there.

And we will continue to be there until Code Pink and the rest of them get the message that the hospital is not a place to stage a political protest, and that they should take their little show to Capitol Hill or the White House.

I know that most of us would much rather not be out on the street outside WRAMC, and instead be inside where we can talk to the wounded and offer what local assistance we might be able.

Members of the DC Chapter have been at WRAMC to visit the wounded prior to Code Pink's demonstrations, but we don't talk about that, because our visits inside weren't politically motivated. We went inside WRAMC because like many others, we do care about the men and women who have defended us.

To jla: ...maybe you should get a hold of Kristin.

I'd rather see Race get a hold of jla.

He is a great tenor, too.

Really? We could use another tenor in our choir in Jersey City.

...or beg for money, eh, Race?

Our FRiend RaceBannon is a Marine who proudly served his country during the Gulf War. He has been an exemplary unofficial leader of rallies and events supporting our troops and the conservative "cause" here in central Connecticut since I've known him (fall 2000). He has traveled tirelessly to attend or lead rallies all over the northeast and Washington DC since 2000, and on a very tight budget when he was unemployed for awhile. When I say "unemployed", though, Race has always been gainfully employed somewhere, doing what he had to do to keep afloat... just as many of us have had to do during our lifetimes. Race lives just a few miles from us, so we know him personally... he is not just a screen name on FR to us.

My husband and I were there in New Haven in front of Joe Lieberman's house on Saturday, December 2, 2000, along with hundreds of other conservatives, veterans, FReepers and people disgusted with algore's and LIEberman's attempt to throw out the military votes for the 2000 presidential election - that was the main purpose of this rally in front of Joe's house that day. This was one of those rallies where RaceBannon became the unofficial leader, and - for once - "our side" was at least twice the size of the liberal crowd across the street.

Once the main rally at Joe's house was over, the large conservative group gravitated toward RaceBannon's truck, as he and a local radio host/politician spoke a few words to the crowd from the bed of RaceBannon's truck. Suddenly, this out-of-control liberal activist "preacher" -- who had been leading the liberals in their sparse pro-algore/LIEberman rally across the street -- JUMPED up onto RaceBannon's truck (personal property of RaceBannon's) while RaceBannon and the radio host were speaking to the crowd. My husband and I (and many others) witnessed the preacher/activist jump up onto Race's truck and he LUNGED at RaceBannon. Race threw up his arms to protect himself (as anyone would who was being "lunged at"), and actually also to steady the preacher, because while hopping up onto the truck, the preacher had lost his balance and would've fallen onto Race or possibly even fell off the truck bed onto the street.

Just as Race held his arms up, the media's cameras snapped. The newspapers the next day ran the photo taken at that split-second, so it gave the false appearance that Race was attacking the preacher! So preacherman ends up suing Race when HE jumped up onto Race's personal property, and lunged toward Race! Unbelievable.

My husband "zelig" and I will attest to RaceBannon's good character, courage and ability to lead (not to mention his excellent speaking/singing voice!). We were happy to help Race out in his hour of true need.

Your words disgust me, jla. Were you there that day? Did you witness this event? And by the way, what have YOU done lately?

nutmeg & zelig

You have stepped over the line little man. Keyboard cowards like you are a cheap. You can read all you want here. There is a constant. Everyone who has got up and come out has a true understanding of reality. I see you choose ignorance.

If you are making an accusation you should just spit it out. If you have a problem with Race you should spell it out. If you have a disagreement of the manner of protests organized by FreeRepublic members tell us.

Your point, whatever it was is not very clear. Perhaps you could enlighten us.

If so, it more or less confirms my suspicions about you all's motives.

Could you translate that last sentence into English for me, jla?

I'm not conversant in Ebonics.

Nope, the protesters not students. They're old, gray, smelly hippie leftovers. And they do it on weekends. Nice weekends, mostly.

I'm not all that familiar with navigating this site. How do you add someone to your ping list? (And what's a ping list???)

Thank you.

I was not in the Gulf War, though, I was off Iran for the Hostage Crisis and the Rescue Attempt.

A ping ist is a list of names you want to add to the TO box when you reply

open up NOTEPAD

type in the names:
RACEBANNON; Sailor Kenshin

then save the text files as PING LIST or something

when you respond to a post, there is a TO box above where you type

copy and paste the names WITH A SEMI COLON separating the names

name;name2;name100; . . .

I found that if there is no space between the names, it works better

I think you'll figure it out! :)

you are the man!

Thanks. It doesn't take much intestinal fortitude to stand up for guys like you.

I can't go to rallies anymore because my wife and I work and we have a 3 yo son and an 11 month old son.

Very often I would like to be able to go and stand next to you and the other FReepers like we did in New Haven but I just can't make it.

Remember the crowd that left all at once in NH? Someone followed them and said they all got on a bus. I guess the socialists can afford to pay for demonstrators but we conservatives have to pay our own way.

Liberals in Manahatten pay good money to their S&M Mistress for that kind of rough play.

With Al Franken being such an ass anyway, are panties over the head really torture, a sick fetish or appropirate attire for a butt head?
