The Senate meets at noon today, again in Executive Session, for the 3rd day of debate on the nomination of Samuel Alito to SCOTUS. Not sure, what, if anything, will happen today..Will there be a filabuster?..will anyone show up..might be work while checking out the beginning of the session, to get the lay of the land....

I get pretty sick of it too, Carolyn. Ticks me off also that the Republican Senators didn't remind viewers that it was Republicans who overwhelmingly voted for the Civil Rights Act, not democrats.

Amazing, isn't it, how dems always manage to get the credit for what Republicans have done for minority rights. Maybe they should teach real history in schools instead of revisionist history.
Guess it depends on who you talk to. According to what they just showed on FOX we have 53 GOP and 3 Dems for Cloiture -- we need 60 and the moonies are working the phones like crazy -- Kerry has provided the phone numbers to them -- and they are working the weak sisters Snow and Collins big-time... also telling the dems to walk out of the STOU...
That 56 votes is to confirm the nominee. Some of the DEM "nay on the nominee" votes will vote for cloture.
Did any of you just hear Major Garetts report on Fox -- Cindy Sheehan called from Venezuela (she is STILL there) and said that unless Feinstein stood for Filibuster she was going to run for Feinstein's senate seat in November... after that call Feinstein changed her vote.
Unless they can blackmail them over the weekend and before 4:30 on Monday -- see my post 648 on what caused Feinstein to change course.

I think somewhere earlier in this thread, it was announced that the debate on this issue would begin again at 10:00 AM on Monday. They will have a cloture vote at 4:30 PM. and the final vote will come at 11:00 AM on Tues. I don't know know what might be going on now.
