I will take Liebermans "no" vote. He votes "yes" and next January we have a screaming lib in CT. At least Lieberman is tough on Defense. To him, this is a throwaway vote.

I predict this is a YES vote from Byrd. Could be wrong, but don't think so.

Drudge also says Mary Landrieu (D, LA) urges against a filibuster, saying the time could be better spent voting on Katrina relief. She's also a member of the Gang of 14.

Maybe the scenario developing is that Lurch will launch a filibuster but cloture will be invoked the regular way, with at least 60 voting for cloture & circumventing the Nuclear Option. Then the RATS can say "Well, we tried."

But if a filibuster is stopped by cloture, doesn't that mean the Senate gets an additional 100 hours for debate? So they talk past the SOTU address.

Seems the senator is offended at the bad behaviour of certain senators............LOL..

Isn't that the way democrats have been living for 60 years?

It's being reported that yes, he is going to vote for Judge Alito's confirmation--apparently 90% of WV's constituents want Alito in the SCOTUS.

Byrd's really reading the riot act to the Senate. Wish C-Span would pan over to Teddy and Hillary and DiFi, etc. I would
LOVE to see their reactions to this!
