Our American president went to the National Security Agency in Ft. Meade, Maryland, to speak with staff and address the press there. Click here for text of his remarks. He also spoke with former clerks of Judge Alito's.
Laua Bush oversaw the "Coming Up Taller Awards" in the White House, an initiative of the U.S. President's Committee on the Arts and Humanities overseen by the first lady. This is for after-school events that promote the arts in youth.

There are quite a few over the years of him near microphones I wonder if he is fascinated by them or the people that hang around them.Either that, or the media like to point out how much of an attraction their mics are to the First Dog, subtly taking another stab at drawing attention to their own function.

It's hard, isn't it, when you have an allergy that isn't so common. People who mean well can give you a real problem. But I don't want to go around with a sign saying "No MSG", or you with one saying "No Dairy".
Sometimes I know enough to ask, but most often, I just guess. The vegetable soup was a surprise. :-(

Poor Dad ... and you have to deal with so many competing issues. Can he eat oatmeal and more fruits and veggies?

I'd been buying raw horseradish root and trying to pulverize it in a juicer. What I am using now is creamed h-radish in a jar, stuff that is used to season meat, etc.

True the cynic in me thought that first but then I decided to give them the benefit of the doubt - my mistake :0)

Season meat - do not understand. We serve it on the side on the plate with roast meat hot or cold like you would a relish or chutney.

There are fewer foods with MSG than there used to be, but you're right, a lot of packaged foods have it. I avoid packaged foods almost completely. I got out of the habit of using them when my allergy first developed, so it isn't a problem now.
I just sometimes get surprised when a home cook uses it. The veg. soup was a surprise, as was a wonderful cucumber salad that I ate a ton of before I got the hint that it had MSG. :-(
