By the way...for all of you who like to talk about Germany being a liberal "lost cause"...
1) Abortion is illegal in Germany.
2) It isn't prosecuted in the first 90 days if a woman obtains counselling for severe distress from a pro-life organization, which have to sign off that they counselled her (begged her to consider adoption).
3) Because it is illegal, there is no state funding for it.
4) Even in the case of rape, after 90 days it is illegal.
5) After 90 days, and because of the Nazi past, deformities and other "defects" are not reason for an abortion. Abortion is a punishable offense after 90 days.
Compare that with the Roe vs Wade USA.
Now, what was anybody saying about "Old Europe" in regard to social conservatism?
So, it's basically "illegal without consequences". Do you think that would go over well with pro-life people here? :)
Nice to hear some good news out of Europe. Thanks. I'd like to believe there's hope.
However.....
Night and day. Thank you for letting us know. It is very encouraging and also a good rhetorical tool for the pro-life cause.
What is the punishment and who is punished, when applied?
Truly impressive.
(And rather Germanically clever at getting around social medicine, too.)
It's good to know that Germans learned a lesson from history. There are a few Americans who need to learn that lesson.
Abortion is illegal in Germany.
..........................................
I don't think so.
According to one website: "Allowed on demand in first trimester or later: Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Netherlands, Slovakia, Slovenia, Sweden"
