When I saw a report that NBC was selling ad time for pennies on the dollar, I remembered my Father's favorite saying, "Even a jackass knows when its oats are full of sandspurs."

Should also give credit to the writers and producers for creating this drek.

I've always loved Aiden Quinn so was very disappointed in this program. Parts of it was kindof funny, quirky, but the sex and homosex was just way too much.
Better luck next time, Aiden!

The biggest reason it went under wasn't because of complaints, it was because it was an awful show that even liberal critics like the guy at the Washington Post ripped apart. They'd air any kind of blasphemy (see South Park) so long as the ratings are high.
To: nmh
It was cancelled because very very few people with a Neilsen box on their television were watching it.
That is the only thing that ever gets a show cancelled.

They'd air any kind of blasphemy (see South Park) so long as the ratings are high. I must disagree. They would never air SouthPark on a major network. Nor would any show that has blasphemy air for very long on any major network.
Please don't try to discount the efforts of millions of Christian Conservative Republicans who worked to get this show off the air.

Even an impassioned plea by Daniel's producer Jack Kenny could not match your participation. "Ordinarily, I would never ask anyone to do this, but the AFA and bullies like them are hard at work to try and prevent you from seeing these beautiful shows, and that is censorshippure and simple. And that is both un-Christian and un-American," Kenny wrote. His attitude is typical in todays society. Non-Christians telling Christians what is Christian. No, Jack, it's not censorship. That would be if the government prevented the program being shown. The government didn't do that, and neither did we. We just emailed every advertiser we could track down & told them we wouldn't buy from them. That's what you call a BOYCOTT, Jack. I'd tell you to invest some of your profits from the show in a dictionary, but there won't BE any profits from the show, neener neener neener.

How about a lack of willing advertisers? I heard they were dropping like flies.
And speaking of the Nielsens, does anyone else wonder how accurately 100,000 households can represent a nation of 300 million people?

Well, that's part of it. The other part of it is that the show was a lousy show, even without the religious outrages.

And speaking of the Nielsens, does anyone else wonder how accurately 100,000 households can represent a nation of 300 million people? Two different samples: One is a national sample, which contains about 9,000 meters inside your TV.
The second is local where the country is divided up into 210 DMAs. This is a combination of meters and diaries.

Anyone with a TiVo or a DirecTV box is supplying viewership data as far as I know. Whether or not Nielsen uses this info is another matter.
