American Idol homophobic?
According to entertainment and celebrity website TMZ.com, officials at the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) are fuming about the Fox show's attitude toward gay people.
GLAAD is mad about the acerbic comments that Simon Cowell and Randy Jackson made to contestants on the show's debut a few days ago.
"Shave off your beard and wear a dress," Cowell told one would-be contestant, while Jackson asked another male reject, "Are you a girl?".
GLAAD also notes that Ryan Seacrest and Cowell regularly exchange on-air insults, each implying that the other is gay.

Hmmmm....is GLAAD trying to tell us that all transvestites are gay? Seems a bit inflammatory to me.
I think their remarks are offensive to transvestites and they should be taken to task for this.

I didn't see or interpret any fear of homosexuals in any on air dialogue between Simon or Seacrest. Did anyone else?
Homophobia is the most over-used lable I have ever heard.
And my husband sat and laughed for 10 minutes after it. Simon's comments are probably the only reason the men in my family sit through most of the singing.
Anyone notice that the show played the song "The Crying Game" during the judges response to Zachary?
Did you see the show? I saw it and it couldn't sing. Say what you want about Elton John or Boy George, they can at least *sing*. This poor kid couldn't sing.

Well, duh. That's the whole purpose of this phase of the show. You'll see a minority of the good talent that's selected for Hollyweird but you'll all of the bottom tier 'performers'.
Who wants to bet that that Sheriff's Deputy from WV won a few big bets from his buddies back at the Sheriff's Office for his unforgetable rendition of "I shot the Sheriff"?
