What most people do not realize is the fact that Stan Rogers was a Scottish Canadian folk singer who died a hero. The Air CAnada flight he was on si=uffered a fire aboard and Stan went back in the aircraft to help other passengers escape. He was overcome by the smoke and collpsed in the aircraft AFTER he went back in.

He is a true patriot of Canada and an icon not only in folk sining , but an icon for courage!!!

He did not have to die, he did because he went to the aid of others in the face of death!!!

I had read about his death on the flight, though I never knew that he ran back in (something I wondered and suspected).

He is easily one of my favorites. I always get kinda bummed about that anytime I listen to him, that I'll never get to see him in concert. Saw Garnet last fall and at Folk Fest which were both really good. Hopefully I'll see his (Stan's) son Nathan next time he is in town.

I met a distant relative of his at Folk Fest this summer, with my beard and thinning hair, she said I sort of look like him. I took that as a big compliment, regardless that I can't possibly match his voice or guitar playing! :-)
