Canadian General Election, Live Thread (UPDATE: Conservatives Win!)
Elections Canada ^ | N/A

Posted on 01/23/2006 8:03:44 AM PST by GreenLanternCorps

If JimRob, etc. approve this is the Live Thread for the Canadian General Election, on January 23rd, 2005.

We have a while to go before the returns start coming in, but I thought the thread needed to get up and running.

Quite possible. Canada is so heavily tilted to the Left that the Liberals can continue to govern as long as the numbers fall in the right places. And conveniently enough, the core cities have most of the votes.

(Denny Crane: "I Don't Want To Socialize With A Pinko Liberal Democrat Commie. Say What You Like About Republicans. We Stick To Our Convictions. Even When We Know We're Dead Wrong.")

Back in 04 Iowa, a traditionally Blue state, swung GOP when the rural returns came in. Could that happen in Atlantic?

There's also the advanced polling. Do they still neglect them unless the vote is close?

Right now, I'm keeping my fingers crossed for 2 of them. 3 would be a bonus.

I got those results from Elections Canada, but hey, what the heck, it's close enough for government work.

I'm a U.S. citizen who attended the Univ. of Toronto in mid/late 90's. At that time, there were riots over Mike Harris. Expect riots if Conservatives win tonight?

If we can't win now - and I mean really win - the odds are that we will never win.

If we can't win, my choice is between becoming a sepratist and emigration.

Texas or Australia? Which shall it be?

Of course, I'm also able to claim permanent residency in the United Kingdom.

Unfortunately it is not likely except for the 2 or 3 too close to call right now.

I was part of the people fighting back against those riots. I don't have any idea. Harris is still like a father figure to me.

Oh well, off to the US in May 2008, just in time to help Hillary LOSE.

I think they count advanced at same time as regular votes. There is no BS with proxy voting, overseas voting, provisional ballots and all that crap here. Some libs won their seats by only a few hundred votes...typical results for these ridings are

l 13 808
C 9 319
N 5 517

The Tories need to pick up four seats in Atlantic Canada to be on track to 125 seats.

Plus 28 in Alberta plus I don't know in B.C. since so many bloody people keep moving here from the East. We have TWO new deals just this week of people moving to Kelowna from Toronto to buy houses and retire here. I wish they wouldn't come here, I really do.

Liberals have virtually RUINED a beautiful, resource rich country. And we have liberals like the very very far left liberals in the United States. It's beyond my comprehension that people are STUPID ENOUGH to vote for such CORRUPTION. They aren't normal. It's no different than giving your kid a reward for stealing!!

Australian women are so, so, so, hot.

But, in reality, Texas makes sense. One part of the US where I might win office.

Of course, I'd probably be most employable in (yuck), California.
