Canadian General Election, Live Thread (UPDATE: Conservatives Win!)
Elections Canada ^ | N/A

Posted on 01/23/2006 8:03:44 AM PST by GreenLanternCorps

If JimRob, etc. approve this is the Live Thread for the Canadian General Election, on January 23rd, 2005.

We have a while to go before the returns start coming in, but I thought the thread needed to get up and running.

Do you know if 9755 on SW is Canada? It is in English but I have not heard enough to find out where it is from.

Tobique-Mactacquac and Saint John will be nailbiters.

Yup.

If that's the case, amigo, I would suck it up until the results are complete. Otherwise, you are gonna be a wreck before the evening is over.

There's a pretty good chance that ElectionPrediction's results would lead to an unstable Liberal Minority.

They've moved in that direction starting with the 2004 election but with a 4 1/2 hour spread you can only do so much. Everything from Québec to Alberta closes at the same time with BC closing 30 minutes later.

Well, this is starting to suck. Then I remember how stupid Atlantic Canada has been over the years voting for the liberals.

Well, I'd say you got a chance for some good pick ups in a solid Lib area. Hang tough!

Do you know if 9755 on SW is Canada?

Yup. According to this site, it's Radio Canada International. Excellent idea. Now, where's the $#@$# shortwave radio?

Just like in the US, early returns tend to favour democrats/liberals, because the earliest places to return are urban areas, filled wiht liberal voters.

That doesn't apply to the areas that are easy to call, but for races that are 'too close to call' it makes a HUGE difference.

I thought it was illegal but this is how they AFFECT the voting turnout in the West. The whole thing STINKS. If the Conservatives get a minority I hope they connect with the BLOC to block the other Canadian WHORE the NDP.

Same here. I figured 12 was the best we could get. We did pick up Avalon and we are close in Saint John, Tobique-Mactacquac and West Nova...

We could be headed for a much trimmed Liberal minority. If the numbers hold up, the Liberals will have pulled off an upset. The only conclusion you can draw from the result is, heck crime does pay well.
