Damascus, Syria

Syria and Bosnia and Herzegovina on Sunday signed two agreements on cooperation in organizing journeys of Hajj, developing Islamic, educational and learning institutions, restoration of mosques as well as exchanging expertise among religious institutes and Islamic studies in both countries.

The two agreements were signed by Minister of Endowments Ziad al-Den al-Ayubi, Syria's Grand Mufti Sheikh Ahmad Hassoun and the Grand Mufti in Bosnia and Herzegovina Sheikh Mustafa Ceric.

Following the signing ceremony, Sheikh Ceric noted to Syria's efforts in defending Islamic rights and sanctuaries, thanking Syria for signing a cooperation agreement on organizing the Bosnian Hajj journey through the Syrian lands.

Minister al-Ayubi, for his part, underlined that Syria, by its firm and principled stances, stretches hands for the peace-loving nations in the world, adding that pressures Syria is exposed to are targeting all Muslims in the world.

Syria's Grand Mufti Sheikh Hassoun also said that Syria exerts its best to serve the Arab and Islamic just causes away of all what could separate and weaken rows in the face of threats.

Mazen.

Now we just need one of our regular Islamofascist cheerleaders to swing by and babble on about how secular the Bosnia Muslims really are!

Sounds as if they'll be fueling up on the "Religion of Peace" to go jihad on someone. Wonder who that might be, hmmmm?

Bosnia has always been a separate cultural identity. I seem to recall the 1908 crisis when Austria-Hungary annexed it from the Turkish Empire. It was never politically in Serbia's sphere until 1917.

Having said that, this is a stupid move by the Bosnians, who should realize their real allies are the United States, not a group of opportunists who will sell them out when the going gets tough.

Actually no, Bosnia has never had its own cultural identity, Bosnians are either Serbs or Croats who were converted to Islam. Many Bosnian Muslims still retain certain Serbian Orthodox religious traditions that revered Christian Saints (slava).

Bosnia was Tito's bastard child social experiment, he pushed it off as a unique ethnic and cultural identity when it is not.

So B-H islamics sign on with an axis of evil power...are we surprised? More infiltration of muslims in the Balkans...disgusting.

All I can say is I hope the Christian Church is doing some major proselytizing and educating there...this will not end peacefully.

Apparently a popular diversion in Bosnia is the watching of beheading videos...from Chechnya!

Bosnians are either Serbs or Croats who were converted to Islam.

Actually, the majority of Bosnians are either Roman Catholic Croats or Orthodox Christian Serbs. The remainder are Slavic (i.e, with Serb or Croat ancestors) muslims, plus a few non-Slavic muslim mujehedin immigrants.

To make Serbian and Croatian Christians live in an artificial muslim-dominated state led by islamofascists is bogus in the extreme. Free Srpska! Free Herceg Bosna!

Pre-1990, Bosnia was not majority-muslim either. It never was. And before the islamist and ustashi genocide of the Serbian people during WWII, Bosnia (then merely a region of Yugoslavia, as it rightly should be) was majority Orthodox Serb.

And prior to and during WWI, some Bosnian muslims were participants in Serb nationalist organizations that called for the liberation of Bosnia from Austria-Hungary, and its integration with Serbia.

"Pre-1990, Bosnia was not majority-muslim either..."

Never said it was a majority, just not another unique ethnic group as Tito tried to sell it.

I seem to recall the 1908 crisis when Austria-Hungary annexed it (Bosnia-Hercegovina) from the Turkish Empire.

The Turks had already been driven from Bosnia-Hercegovina in the late 1870's, coinciding as it did with the Russian defeat of the Turks in their war of 1877-78. More than just a few Serbs took part in the uprisings which drove the Turks from Bosnia. What was their reward? The Congress of Berlin (1878), among other decisions, gave Bosnia-Hercegovina to the Austro-Hungarians to administer (that is, to swindle and strangle). Serbia, as an independent State, growing in strength and stability set a "bad" example for the people's around her (Afterall, freedomm is Empire's cancer). Austria was beside itself with hatred for Serbia and annexing Bosnia-Hercegovina was a statement directed against Serbia, as well as an attempt to resuscitate its empire, corrupt and dying at its core.
