Kickoff for the AFC is in about 10 minutes. NFC about 3 hours after that.

Steelers by 10

The Broncos play in the toughest conference in the NFL the AFC west ... if the Steelers played in the AFC west instead of the AFC north ... they wouldn't be in the play-offs. Denver by 10.

There is no way Seattle wins today..

If Seattle would simply follow the Cowboys' lead, and shut down Steve Smith by double/triple teaming him, they will beat Carolina handily. And they will have to get a bit nasty and physical with him. He rather came unglued when the Cowboys did that earlier in the year.

Think we are looking at a SEA-PIT Super bowl, myself.

I'm in Seattle. I admit it might be a Bull Buster.

But we're at home. Big, Big, BIG advantage.

Here's the conference title game histories of today's teams:

Year refers to the season not the actual calendar year when game was played.

All caps indicates home team.

DENVER BRONCOS:

1977 - BRONCOS 20 Raiders 17
1986 - Broncos 23 BROWNS 20 (OT)
1987 - BRONCOS 38 Browns 33
1989 - BRONCOS 37 Browns 21
1991 - BILLS 10 Broncos 7
1997 - Broncos 24 STEELERS 21
1998 - BRONCOS 23 Jets 10

STEELERS:

1972 - Dolphins 21 STEELERS 17
1974 - Steelers 24 RAIDERS 13
1975 - STEELERS 16 Raiders 10
1976 - RAIDERS 24 Steelers 7
1978 - STEELERS 34 Oilers 5
1979 - STEELERS 27 Oilers 13
1984 - DOLPHINS 45 Steelers 28
1994 - Chargers 17 STEELERS 13
1995 - STEELERS 20 Colts 16
1997 - Broncos 24 STEELERS 21
2001 - Patriots 24 STEELERS 17
2004 - Patriots 41 STEELERS 27

SEAHAWKS:

1983 - RAIDERS 30 Seahawks 14 (AFC title game)

PANTHERS:

1996 - PACKERS 30 Panthers 13
2003 - Panthers 14 EAGLES 3

Steelers are a cold weather team, as are Broncos. Elevation might help Broncos, and fan noise when Steelers are on offense. Dunno about Seattle/Carolina. Those two teams probably get less publicity than anyone else in the NFC. The AFC game is between teams that have a combined 11 Super Bowl appearances and 6 wins, while the NFC is between teams that have one appearance and zero wins. (that's close, but I don't follow any of these teams closely, let me know if I'm off)

Your NFL math is correct.

History shows that home field advantage in this round is almost a non factor. I expect at least one of the road teams to win today.

If either Pittsburgh or Carolina wins today they'll be the first team(s) since the 1985 New England Patriots to win three post season games on the road to reach the Super Bowl.
