The “pictures” I tried to create in your head were real. These were no fringe opinions but were German Main Stream Media even German State Media outlet presented opinions and statements. It’s one thing when Globalheater says something on the WWW. It’s something else when Schroeder or a state media outlet makes these statements. When politicians start comparing Bush with Hitler and I can give many many more examples – you have a problem.
The knife cutting between the US and Germany have stopped. We will work together on issues such as Iran and Hamas. But the “trust” was violated. Certain decisions have already been made and some wheels when set in motion take time to start moving, but much of the damage done under the Schroeder administration is “institutionalized”. It’s not going away with a Merkel.
