Light My Fire was done with an electric organ, not a guitar.
eric johnson as a pup 16 year old in a psych band
named mariani.
one of the most expensive albums in the world.
i have a boot copy on vinyl and a legit re issue cd.
fabulous guitar work.
"Guajiras de Lucia" by Paco de Lucia has to be on that list someplace.
I can't even think as fast as that guy plays, and it is a killer Guajira rhythmn to boot.
And SRV not on this list if it is strictly rock is a travesty.
Radio songs not on the list
All Right Now - Free
Rikki Don't..- Steely Dan
I Know A Little - Skynyrd

self-indulgence/off
One of my favorites by Jeff Beck is the Highway Song
Yes, Randy Rhoads made that song. No other version by anyone has the stuff.
Go see for yourself. www.alvinlee.com
But it appears he is alive, well, and still shredding on his Gibson ES-335.
Back in the day it was Grand Funk Railroad and Mark Farner.
"Inside Looking Out"
If you throw in country solos, the list does not change!
self-indulgence/back on again babe- get ready for this:

I LOVE Paco de Luca's "Stella By Starlight" I've been listening to it over and over for at least a week, just entranced. BTW,does anyone remember John Klemmer, the saxaphonist, besides me? I used to love "Barefoot Ballet". I was introduced to his music at ballet practice. Most of his LPs have never been released on CD and are out of release, but I found "Barefoot Ballet" and four others on EBay(I'm going to have them transferred to CD),and a compilation on iTunes called "Mosaic".
Wondering the same thing.
Eric Johnson is awesome.
I bought the live disc from an Austin City Limits Show, and it makes my hair stand on end. Western Flyer, Zap, etc. EJ plays the backward recorded solo from "Are You Experienced". Unbelievable.
I forgot "The Claw" Jerry Reid, and about a few hundred other great solos and players.
zappa has quite a few good ones, most of which are better than what is on that list....the negative perception of his lyrics overshadowed his musical genious!!!
A very underrated tune. As soon as I saw the title of this thread, I found that MP3 and listened to it from start to finish three times.
Green Grass and High Tides - The Outlaws
