U.S. HELICOPTER SHOT DOWN NORTH OF BAGHDAD -- WITNESSES
Dulcie and I would be honored! ;-)
What are you spewing about?
God bless and protect him.
I'm in the GZ as well. It's a fortress.
Oh, Allegra!!! Pls ignore the silly rantings...hope you are doing well!
Allegra has been on the ground over there just coming up two years, longer than most combat units. She interacts with the troops daily and more than a few of us here in the states get concerned when she doesn't check in to FR. I'd cut her some slack. We're all concerned with those in harm's way.
Not only freedom of movement...but, hugh bunkers filled with ammunitions and arms...
All is well and thank you for your support. ;-)
I don't worry about these ranters. I can tell by this one's behavior that he/she has "issues" and I pity these types.
The sane ones like you two are the majority on FR and are a part of what makes it a "home away from home."
Thank you. :-)
With all due respect, I prefer the intel garnerd from those in the hot zones as well as those in the green zones. Especially those who do not parade their knowledge on web sites.
I love our tagline...we tend to forget life's small pleasures...
military helicopter pilots have to be the bravest people in the world. sheesh these things are constantly falling out of the sky!
It's the stuff of freedom, you know!
With all best wishes, RHLIII
It all depends how they were hit (if it indeed happened). Heli's are designed to land fairly hard, but certain components are essential to a safe landing.
Being that army rotor pilots are of the best pilots in the world, they have a much higher chance of surviving given an okay circumstance. Missile are not the usual cause of crashes in avaition, thus the variable of circumstance.
Just pray for the best...are military needs that daily.
LOL - being over here has certainly taught me not to take the small pleasures for granted.
Whenever I go on vacation, I'm like a kid in a candy store the first few days. Simply amazed and elated that I'm free to go wherever I want, buy whatever I want, eat whatever I want, etc. Traffic jams don't bother me anymore. While I used to hate grocery shopping, I now find a trip to a US supermarket great fun. HAHAHA
US helicopter crashes in Iraq
A US helicopter crashed north of Baghdad Monday, the US military said, adding that there was no immediate news of its two-man crew.
"A task force Ironside helicopter did go down this morning at 8:20 am, a spokesman said. "The status of the two-man crew is unknown at the moment."
The cause of the accident, a few miles (kilometres) north of the capital, is under investigation, he added.
Two US pilots were killed on Friday when their reconnaissance helicopter was apparently shot down in northern Iraq, while eight US soldiers and four civilians perished a week earlier when their Black Hawk helicopter crashed near the restive town of Tal Afar in northwestern Iraq.
...hate to break this to you...but you're not important enough to disagree with.
Allegra has been over in Bagdad for a while and has a better grip on the in Country situation than you do.
As I explained previously, I was just sticking up for a soldier's relative. In addition, I do have contacts who have been on the ground longer than Allegra has, and I have contacts in military intelligence. I also have personal experience with Iraqis and the current situation in Iraq.
I mean no harm to you, so please understand that I am not hostile to you. We are on the same side.
Why are you so defensive???
I am so sorry that you have to put up with petty complaining that we do...
I cannot imagine how much it must be difficult it is for you guys over there...
I am so grateful for the news that you bring us...thank you.
Do you need more socks??
I get used to it. So used to it that I keep coming back. It's really not so bad.
I had two good job offers in the States last month, but the pull to come back here was too strong.
I need my head examined. ;-)
And we can get all kinds of neat stuff on the internet (like socks.) I'm so glad Al Gore invented it.
