They won't. That 100 hour thing was a hyperbolic offer by Frist, aimed to illustrate the abuse of cloture. There will be some debate on Alito, a call for vote which will be objected to, a cloture motion, and two days late cloture vote and vote on the nomination. That's what the the 17th-20th schedule was based on.
I'm sure their internal polling numbers had some part to play in that.
do you remember the old George Carlin routine about women's lib? something like "why are all the women who are out supporting abortion women you wouldn't want to sc**w anyway?"
Guy asking about this looking like a lost cause! LOL
That last questioner will get tombstoned!!!!!!LOL
We understood the 24th?
The Stop Alioto crowd is a bunch of loonies!
Reporter ... I'm no vote counter, but it looks like a lost cause and you don't have the votes to stop this
No, you did type the 24th! I was reading what they kept showing on the C-Span scroll....I thought it said the 20th. My mistake. :-)
Kennedy thinking: "hmmm...Time Magazine - Person of the Year!"
Ralph Neas!!! ugly ugly.
Check out this guys hair.
Now we got Ralph Neas..
I think we don't know, for sure. Leahy said at the close of the hearings that the DEMs woul ask to delay the Committee vote from the 17th, and gave "not ready" as the reason (ummm ... the committee is on hand now, are they not?). The longest the Committee vote can be delayed is one week.
C-SPAN showing Alito opposition presser. These folks are going to make noise continuously until the vote.

By '08, we will (or should) have a good fix on the voting inclinations of Roberts and Alito. We will know if it is a 4-4 court with one swing vote. If it is, and a vacancy comes up in '08, you know the Dims will scratch and claw to prevent GWB from getting one more nominee on the court. It will truly be Armageddon in the senate.
I don't think anything demonstrated that point better than these hearings.
Those that were in support of Judge Alito's confirmation were able to muster a phenomenal array of facts, figures, citations of case law and Constitutional law, and irrefutable expert testimony on behalf of his nomination.
What did the Democrats have to offer in rebuttal?
The flaccid, insipid flailing of decaying Mastodons like Senator Kennedy, whose rhetorical skills have atrophied to the point where all he is able to do is rely upon brute force and incessant bullying.
And even in this respect, his strategy was a complete and utter failure.
LOL! I heard that bit the other day on George Carlin Radio on Shoutcast.
Are you new to politics or something?
either way ... it's not airing
