My Rug
Why, yes. This my very own personal rug
It's thick and warm and its weave is quite snug
Resisting years of my flexing and pulling claws
A delicious ageless island through countless naps
It belongs to me! You got a problem with that?
You may beat it wash it from time to time
Then put it back in its place and I won't mind
For we all know errantly shed hair is a crime
And a clean and freshened rug feels so sublime
Especially after Summer and before Winter time
Do not gasp or panic or make a face
When I pull my rug before the fireplace
When evening comes early in all its glorious hues
And I can feel its cold air seeping down the flue
Loving simple creature comforts, it's what we cats do
A crackling fire brightly ablaze in its place
Swirling warm air all over my paws, tail and face
Eyes slowly closing with its hypnotic flutter and pace
The Big Ones on the couch whispering things I'll never tell
A perfect feline moment when all is perfectly well
