Alamo-Girl used to have a super Newcomers Welcome Desk and Information Center. I've been on extended leave from FR. Is there still a place where newbies can go to get oriented, pick up some lingo, learn etiquette, get questions answered without getting flamed, etc.?
My sister just registered, so I'm trying to help her out.
Thanks!

I was referring to the nametag, but I'm sure you're cute, too!
BTW, I think everyone should receive one of those nametags (and a cigar?) when they register at FR . . .

Durn dog still has chili breath. From both ends.
Homemade venison chili. First time I made my chili in nearly 30 years. I put just a little too much cayenne in it this time but it sure hasn't slowed that dog down.

"My sister just registered.."
I conned my sis into joining.
And did the customary ritual hazing, and then she got back at me by scanning some pics, and related embarrasing stuff.
So, Haze yer sis if you must out of tradition, but be aware that she'll get you back eventually.
*chuckle*
Saw that you redid the sandbox thread, excellent.
Have a good one!

Do you know of any new welcome threads to which I can steer my sis? Thanks. BTW, Purple Mountains Maj, I'd like you to meet Alamo-Girl!

Hello, old friend!
I'm very honored to meet your sister, Purple Mountains Maj!
Do you know of any new welcome threads to which I can steer my sis?
Yes indeed. Every day I post the Oswald Chambers devotion on the Religion forum and I will be pinging both of you there in a jiffy.

Hello!
I'm not new, but I'm newly returned from posting exile!
And I've already been accused of being a troll again!

I would advise that your first task should be to compose a one sentence post stating a little about your concerns and start the thread in BREAKING NEWS.
Your welcome in advance.
To: stands2reason
Ouch.
Good to see you again.
Been odd on my end of things lately.

I really like the Religion-Moderator's "ground rules" in the first post position for the Chambers devotion "Cyber-Chapel." It's so very important to create a safe haven. I think I'm a very tough minded person, but I really don't enjoy exchanging barbs with mean spirited people.
I honestly don't believe people who practice the sort of conservatism I was taught treat others that way. (Immanuel Kant: "Treat others as potential members of the kingdom of ends, never as means only." Jesus Christ: "Treat others as you would be treated." Moses: "Love thy neighbor as thyself.")
I even posted something awhile ago to try and introduce a little civility and "decorum" to "web discourse." [click here] I don't think it's had any impact, but there are some pretty decent links there if I do say so! :o)
God Bless you both reeeeeeeeeeeal good!
To: DainBramage; Purple Mountains Maj
Do NOT follow the advice in #35, Purp. He's baiting you. That's the quickest way to get max-flamed . . . maybe even nuked!
Nice try, DainBramage, you shipdit.

Thank you so very much for the excellent information on the link, TPartyType!
Purple, my formula for peace: when people are reduced to throwing spit wads it means they are out of ammunition. So the best thing to do when that happens is simply leave the conversation - the point has been made. LOL!
