Yup - anything that promotes homosexuality will be a winner in Hollywood.

Perhaps, but I'm not convinced Brokeback does. ...
Not a very positive image promoted by the movie.

Read this:

It explains the agenda behind the movie and techniques used. Excellent article.

Anyone have the numbers on how much Barebum Mounters is making? It really isn't making too many waves up here in Canada that I've heard.
>>>>.

SEE HERE :

http://www.boxofficemojo.com/movies/id=brokebackmountain.htm

The production budget was a mere $14 M ( who knows what the Marketing budget was ? ).

Thus far, worldwide, it has grossed $22 M.

Someone in this thread mentioned that if you want to break even, the rule of thumb figure is you have to gross TWICE your production budget.

Hence, Brokeback Mountain is still in the red based on this rule of thumb.

But this is what the OSCARS will be trying to change by adding "MOMENTUM" to it with their agenda driven awards.

NARNIA, with a production budget of $180 M has already made a humungous profit worldwide --- $475 M ( and going ).

KING KONG, with a production budget of $207 M also has made a profit worldwide at : $465 M ( still short of Narnia ).

Well if ratings are an indication, the Oscars are among the highest rated TV shows of the year as a general rule. And Oscar winning films always experience a bump at the Box Office. The last Best Picture winner that an really be called a flop was The Last Emperor.

The truth is that the writers of such movies believe they are writing a true version of history

Only if they are mentally ill. No dramatizations of historical events are 100% faithful to the factual record. Not Shakespeare's History Plays and certainly not novels and films. The makers have said in interview after interview that the film is fiction.

We are not talking about Shakespere, we are talking about left-biased Hollywierd. You can believe their fiction about their intentions of their fiction at your own peril. You need only listen to the script writer of Munich to know how he believes in the "truth" of his fiction and his hope that Israel will see the error of its ways.

That a writer has an ideological intent they wish to convey with their writing isn't the point. Of course they do...just like anyone else who writes anything. What we're talking about dramatizations based on Historical events. Why wouldn't something like 'Richard III' count? It's a Hatchet Job on the last Yorkist King, desgined to please the reining Tudor monarchy. Or Tolstoy's caricature of Napoleon in War and Peace... All 'based on fact'.

It is not a simple matter of "ideological intent". The left's approach to history is pure religion based on their own myths. One writer or another may attempt to give some preference to one person, or set of persons, or one event or set of events to lift up someone or something they favor and/or to downplay, soften, reduce the exposition of one person or set of persons or one event or set of events to the detriment of someone or something they do not favor. The left invents facts, motives, personal thoughts, personal attitudes, personal conclusions in historical figures to produce a wholely non-factual overall view of the history they portray. They can say what they want about, how "it is only 'fiction', but they do not believe it is "fiction" it is the truth as they believe it - facts or no facts and unlike most works of fiction it is their clear intent that you believe their claims of "fiction" are just a wink and a nod, and accept that fiction as gospel truth.

As do all writers of fiction

but they do not believe it is "fiction" it is the truth as they believe it - facts or no facts and unlike most works of fiction it is their clear intent that you believe their claims of "fiction" are just a wink and a nod, and accept that fiction as gospel truth.

You're practicing divination. I'm practicing Literary Criticism.

Huh? They've been losing viewership for years.

I would like to see Pierce Brosnan get it for "The Matador" but comic performances rarely win. A shame, as he is great in that film.

It is not divination. I have read the published statements they have made about their own thoughts and intentions of their work.

For all it matters they can intend their work to bring on Armageddon. Their intentions don't change the principles of fiction that have been in play for millenia. If you go to a drama expecting unadorned fact then you deserve to be fooled.

Having just received the Academy ballot along with the booklet containing all the movies for last year, I can say this has to be the worst year for movies EVER!

All the absurd left-wing cultural and historical flix will be nominated.

The best movies last year were "Narnia" and "Capote"...which is absolutely brilliant! There's a teeny, tiny movie called "Junebug" that is truly a treasure. A supporting actress named Amy Adams will knock your socks off. If she isn't nominated...God is on vacation.

The Clooney movies will sweep.

It is not a matter of what I know, or what you know, or the mere methods of writing "fiction". It is a matter of the pure, and lie-based intent of political Hollywood. You would prefer that the general populace not even understand that pure politica intent was a motive and often for Marxist political purpose. Of course what they do in film is not much different than what they do in the classroom.

All Art is political to some degree, the expression of someone's worldview. Like the old saying goes: "Fiction doesn't lie."
