Alito Hearings Set to Begin

Today the multi-day confirmation hearings for Samuel Alito begin. They are expected to last all week, possibly into Saturday. First up will be a series of opening statements by the eighteen members of the Senate Judiciary Cmte. After that comes the introduction of Samuel Alito and his opening statement.

NOTICE OF COMMITTEE HEARING

The Senate Committee on the Judiciary has scheduled a hearing on the nomination of Samuel A. Alito, Jr. to be an Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States for Monday, January 9, 2006 at 12:00 p.m. in the Senate Hart Office Building Room 216.

I was trying to figure how long it would be before we heard from the nominee, with 10 minute opening statements from all the blowhards.

I figure I've got time to do a couple of hours of research at the library, go pick up my dog from the groomer, and still not miss Alito's opening statement.

I sure as heck am not going to stick around and listen to these self-important Senator's make their "opening statements". BBL

Miers withdrawl is representative of Bush's catering to the wishes of those conservatives who didn't know how she would vote.

His logic is that if the conservatives cared for voting futures, the liberals can too.
