BAGHDAD, Iraq (CNN) -- A French humanitarian worker who had been held hostage in Iraq for more than a month was freed Saturday during a joint U.S.-Iraqi military operation, the military said.
Conducting a joint search operation in the area, U.S. and Iraqi military came upon the farmhouse, and Planche's captors fled, leaving him free to walk away.
Planche, a resident of Lyons, France, was kidnapped in Baghdad's Mansour neighborhood on December 5.

Good work!
Genius
It is wrong to be French.
Your welcome, France.
I wonder how long it is before we read of an article about how good his captors were and how bad America is?
Not long.
The British media side with the terrorists.

He was French. SO I guess the British want to give him back to the terrorists for that reason?? /sarcasm
Those guys must have been in mental conflict about saving one of the backstabbing, wimpy frogs....but they did it anyway.
Great job.
Good job!
"The British media side with the terrorists."
Not sure which part of what you linked you got that from? At least read your sources.
Seems like there's differing 'official accounts' of what happened at the moment.
Fox News currently have a story based on the AP report cited by the BBC and Guardian stories linked:

So, the story is- Frenchmen saved by USA military.
French military nowhere to be seen- oh wait, there they are, eating snails and drinking wine with the enemy.
It is not wrong to be French it is only wrong to stay French.
Thanks for the link, and this quote is incredible:
"America is often portrayed as an ignorant, unsophisticated sort of place, full of bible bashers and ruled to a dangerous extent by trashy television, superstition and religious bigotry, a place lacking in respect for evidence based knowledge. I know that is how it is portrayed because I have done my bit to paint that picture..." BBC's Washington correspondent Justin Webb
Are we sure it wasn't the French kidnapping the French?? Sorry! I can't help it, but this made me giggle this morning. Glad he's free.
a French engineer taken hostage last month was pushed out of a car near a checkpoint in a Baghdad suburb, apparently freed by nervous captors who then fled, police said.
Arab news channel Al-Arabiya, which broadcast an excerpt of the video, said the militants denounced the "illegal French presence" in Iraq and demanded the withdrawal of French troops from the country. France has not sent forces to Iraq.
Ahem. Ooops!
US troops saving french swine PING!
THIS JUST IN...
In what may be the greatest act of terrorism since 9/11, al-Qaeda-affiliated terrorists have taken 100 Frenchmen hostage, and are threatening to release one per hour until their demands are met.
