There's nothing wrong with criticizing someone when they're actually doing wrong. Admonishing them.

I will let LS speak for himself, but criticism and admonition are two different things. I do not know if anyone posting to this thread has followed the procedure outlined in Mt. 18: 15-17 (concerning scale-up of admonition followed by the church's proper response to unheeded admonition) to deal with whatever it is they are complaining about here.

15 Moreover if thy brother shall trespass against thee, go and tell him his fault between thee and him alone: if he shall hear thee, thou hast gained thy brother.

16 But if he will not hear thee, then take with thee one or two more, that in the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established.

17 And if he shall neglect to hear them, tell it unto the church: but if he neglect to hear the church, let him be unto thee as an heathen man and a publican.

I know of nowhere in Scripture we are called upon to denounce other believers or to criticize anyone. I am not saying nobody was denounced in the New Testament on account of their conduct; it is of course urgently important that we be admonished not to sin, and this requires openly condemning sin and pointing out to everyone what the sin in question is (verse 17 would provide for this).

But this is not the same as public criticism of the person who is sinning. At times we are to leave them to their own devices (verse 17 again), but this does not mean that we criticize them. How can we bless those who persecute us while casting verbal stones at those whom we regard as sinning believers? Maybe we should actually pray for them.

Some are decent teachers, but many are not. Overall, I do have to question the judgment of any Christian pastor or teacher who would pay for airtime on the Crouches network and thereby give them tacit support, not to mention funds. Those people and their good buddy Benny Hinn are complete frauds. Why on earth would someone like Charles Stanley want to associate himself with them in any way, shape or form? Is a bigger audience that important to him? It must be, even though he has his own extensive evangelical ministry on radio and in other countries.

You hit the nail on the head, but many of today's "new age" believers hate it when we tell this truth. I have witnessed the downhill slide of the church since the late 1960s. There is nothing new, just repackaging and smart marketing techniques. The bottom line is that they are still in spiritual error and refuse to see it. And millions of blind believers will follow them straight to Hell.

There is a more harsh judgement against the leaders who scatter the flock. They will have their special "rewards" when the time comes. I would like to hear the excuses then.

So, is Hal still on his third wife, or has he moved on to the 4th by now? Who is ghost-writing for him now? Why anyone takes this guy seriously anymore is more of a mystery than any obscure passage from the Apocalypse of John.

Enquiring minds want to know!

Seriously, though, I suspect old Hal's role as the abortionist of the Jesus Movement will catch up with him soone or later.

"When the New York Times surveyed all book sales for the decade of the 1970s, it found that Lindsey's had far outsold all other authors. His "Late Great Planet Earth" alone sold more than 32 million copies."

And thus the Jesus movement was aborted, shunted off into the barren boonies of apocalyptic speculation. Jesus wept.

"And can you be sure they DON'T feed the hungry or send a poor kid to college? You don't know anything about them, really, only what the Christian bashers have to say. I have LOTS of confidence in THEM."

I have no confidence in anyone whose hair color does not even approximate anything in nature.

I hadn't heard that, either. He may have her confused with Tammy Faye Bakker.

Well, Tammy Faye is not dying from cancer. She's in remission.

That's what I thought when I read it...the poster was thinking of Tammy Faye.
