Arizona senator John McCain could win the 2008 presidential election in the United States, according to a poll by Zogby International. 52 per cent of respondents would vote for the Republican in a head-to-head contest against Democratic New York senator Hillary Rodham Clinton.

In 2000, McCain won seven GOP presidential primaries in the U.S., but retired from the race after eventual nominee George W. Bush became the frontrunner.

Rodham Clinton was elected to the U.S. Senate in 2000, defeating Republican Rick Lazio by 12 per cent. She ruled out a presidential bid in 2004. 37 per cent of respondents would vote for the Democrat, while 11 per cent would back other candidates or remain undecided.

Bush is ineligible for a third term in office. The next presidential election is scheduled for November 2008.

Can't we enjoy the upcoming reaming the GOP is going to give the Dems in November before we start worrying about which of these nonentities is going to be nominated (because one or both of them will fail to be nominated)?

John McCain (R) 52%

Hillary Rodham Clinton (D) 37%

What's interesting is that liberals don't like McCain anymore because he's seen as Bush's butt boy, and, yet, he still does well in these 2008 polls. It's been reported that a lot of Bush's financial backers are looking at McCain as a perfectly acceptable successor to Bush since he's hawkish on the war and is viewed as electable. And independents still seem to love McCain.

Well, hillary is the third horn [or is it a rear hoof?] of the apocalyptic Beast. Thus anybody else [including my cat who does not have political ambitions or interests] would be better than her.

McCain and Condi are the MSM's Republican Posterboy and girl respectively. They are the two potential Republican candidates guaranteed to lose to Mrs. Clinton.

Bush is ineligible for a third term in office.

Hey Bob - trying to liven up your evening...come on over and we can explain why this is unconstitutional. If "we the people" want President Bush for a third term, we should be able to have him.

After all, we don't want the 2 dufuses from mAssachusetts to have lifetime terms, but they do.

Yeah, the indies love McCain......

I cannot stand the thought of him near the White House.

Somebody is going to have to stand up and take the lead, or McCain will get the ticket.

Gag.

I'm no McCain fan, but he would have an electoral cakewalk against Hillary.

Hillary would be relegated to California, Illinois, and the North East.

McCain would not win any moderate liberal votes against Hillary, because she has managed to wrap herself in the illusion that she is strong on defense. Meanwhile, Conservatives would stay away if McCain was the candidate. If Hillary is nominated, the only counter is to go as Conservative as possible.

OK..we don't either one of these morons.
I would vote for Jeff Sessions if George Allen were his running mate.
I would vote for George Allen, period.
However, the 27th Amendment to the Constitution will NEVER be repealed in our lifetime, so a third term is out.
Unless we have a MASSIVE write-in effort..
