unless Scott Peterson farts in his cell on death row, in which case Greta will be on to tell us what it smelled like.

When Peterson was first arrested and Greta was almost 24/7 on him, I joked in a thread about 'breaking news, Scott gets a hair cut'.

Two days later, it happened. I was LMAO. For the next 24 hours, we got nothing but Scott's hair cut and new look.

"FNC is AWOL."

I've been watching it on Fox, non-stop, all day!

I can't remember things ever being this dry...our property has been so dry for so long that the horses have ate everything down to the dirt. There is nothing left to burn, which will be a blessing if any fires get started out here. Dirt and rock is all that's left.

It's unreal. My backyard has no grass left, like you say it's just worn off. I've never seen it so dry either. Drove by the Arkansas river just below the Keystone dam the other day, and it looked like a mudhole.

You could be right, Rte66, we could be smelling smoke from Bristow here in the north area of Tulsa.

Idling cars with hot exhausts are equally likely to start grass fires.

Why isn't the MSM covering the fires in NM?

They would be if Governor Richardson was getting a photo op there. But the fires are on the other side of the state from Santa Fe and it is not good flying weather for his fancy jet (paid for by the taxpayers). Otherwise they ignore us.

My mother was born in Burkburnett. My grandfather owned an oil lease there many years ago.

I'm amazed Bill doesn't see this as an opportunity to look presidential.

Then my mapping app is wrong. I see 50th & Sooner as being just to the west of Tinker.

It might not be the fault of your mapping app as OKC has a north and a south of ever number street - which can be VERY frustrating at times when people don't distinguish which they're talking about. It took me living here years before I figured out when the local radio and television talking heads mentioned certain streets by their numbers alone (without the "N" or "S" prefix) they meant the more famous of the two. Next step was to try and keep straight which was which. example: if one hears "63rd" or "10th" it means the north side of town, if one hears "50th" it generally refers to S. 50th.

Your computer program and I both get a bit discombobulated when the less popular of the streets are mentioned without their prefixes.

They packed up the lap top and turned the motor home around, so I probably won't hear from them tonight. I am in West Tenn.

I have another question: After seeing footage today on KWTV of some dude in a black Dodge Dually pickup with a water tank in back fighting a fire by himself, I'm wondering: Why doesn't someone (The Governor?) commandeer all the truck-portable water tank and pump units like the ones used by landscape chemical sprayers and put them to use?

Just load 'em up on dually trucks, or National Guard trucks, fill them with water, and send them to the fires? Settle up after the fires are out.

Just an idea...

Don't know if you'all have seen this. 'Exceptional' and 'drought' are two words I never like hearing together.

Hey, I just went out to feed, and I can smell smoke now, and it's pretty strong.
