They are using the mile roads in the same way they would use back fires, and from what I can see on the local news it is working.
I went to HS at Burkburnett and my sister and mother live there.

50th and Sooner is NE of the city about 8 miles north of TAFB. Last we heard locally it had reached 63rd and sooner. Thats a fairly rural area, with scattered homes - no large neighborhoods.

Foc cut War Stories on the half hour, and has had live video and local reporting on the fires. Doing a pretty good job, IMO.
In the content of the coverage, I thought FOX skunked CNN. The woman on CNN was hysterical.
I live south of Bixby, and there is no evidence of fire or smell of it around here. Things are very dry tho. Last week the 40 acres my kids live on burned some, it got close to my daughters house. But so far this evening we're haveing no trouble.

My memory may be faulty -- there were fires in the area last week which were put out. I think it was Coryell County, but at any rate it was somewhere in the Waco/Temple/Belton region.

Thanks, Becky. My sister's family just came back from around 41st and Peoria, and they said they could smell smoke down there. It's not tremendously strong, but you can definitely smell it where I am (near Sand Springs).

Why isn't the MSM covering the fires in NM?

I can't remember things ever being this dry...our property has been so dry for so long that the horses have ate everything down to the dirt. There is nothing left to burn, which will be a blessing if any fires get started out here. Dirt and rock is all that's left.

Staying safe here. Firefighters will be on scene all night, and will sort out things in the morning. But it looks like some folks lost homes.
