Religious and spiritual concerns aside, it looks like a lousy show anyway. The only reason they could possibly have for putting it in the lineup is to thumb their noses at people who DO take their faith seriously.

"...the Webster family reportedly includes a 23-year-old homosexual, Republican son; a 16-year-old daughter who is a drug dealer; and an adopted son involved in an improper relationship with the bishop's daughter." WHY do the idiots in the media think that this is the kind of programming that will attract large "media market share"??
To: NYer
the weekly show centers around an Episcopal priest named Daniel Webster Really now. That fact is not readily conveyed by the ads. They make him seem to be a Catholic priest, but Episcopal, anything goes...

Just more of the same NBC, Nothing But Crap.

Gee, when are we going to see a TV show that similarly mocks Muslims and their faith?

FYI..When I first heard about this show, I thought it sounded, well, familar...this was tried once before..also failed abysmally. Dan Akroyd, of all people played a disfunctional Episcopal priest on
"Soul Man" Why are they always picking on us poor Episcopalians? Though this show may well be a hit, since I expect Bishop Vickie Gene Robinson to announce that it's a marvelous slice of reality..

This sounds like a quasi-accurate portrayal of much of the Episcopal Church. Why are non-Episcopalians complaining?

23-year-old homosexual, Republican son; a 16-year-old daughter who is a drug dealer; and an adopted son involved in an improper relationship with the bishop's daughter.NBC has come a long way with family sitcoms since the Bill Cosby Show.

NBC and all the MSM hate Christan's.

Reading the synopsis, it sounds like something that might be funny as a British comedy. But then it would be well-written.

Wouldn't it be funnier and more timely if a mullah's dysfunctional family were paraded on TV every week? To bomb or not to bomb the corner Quickie-Mart. Oh, but that wouldn't be PC.

Certainly sounds like 'Must See TV' to me. /sarc
The description sounds absolutely dreadful. They should wait a couple more years until they've gone further with coarsening Society before going ahead with this. In this respect it is ahead of it's time. The Public hasn't been properly dumbed down yet.

Am I dreaming or did I see a figure in the promo-commercials of a person who looks like the popular rendition of Jesus Christ in the passenger seat of the car? I must have because I was suddenly outraged, I can't believe it was my imagination.
Of course, they all make such clever, cynical little quips, one after another. Blasphemy! But what do they care? Ignoring this trash is not enough and please don't tell me to punch the channel button, this goes far beyond that sort of nonsense, just like the p*** Christ "art".

I read somewhere that the priest is supposed to take drugs, too, or have some kind of drug problem.
I won't be watching it because I don't want to smash my tv.

I just read some previews about this abomination (but hey, it's NBC) and thought, why not just call the show "The Devil and Daniel Webster" instead of pretending to link the show to the Book of Daniel in the Bible.
Then, I realized that I was merely overcome with rationality instead of acknowledging that the "entertainment industry" is really all about turning America into a cesspool (of course, much of it is already thanks to the same entertainment industry).

Why doesn't NBC show real cutting edge courage and book a series based on the life of jihadist terrorist cell masquerading as a family.
Sort of like an Islamic 'Coneheads'.
