By the time I got rid of the Oldsmobeater, I had the curb weight down around 4000lbs (down from 5500) and it'd cut a 1/4 mile in around 12 seconds@125MPH. No NOx needed.

I'd love to get a chance to tinker on my Camaro some more. Maybe if we end up buying some investment property down here, I can finally get her hauled down here. The engine will need a new gasket set, but the rest should still be ok. I needed to rebuild the tranny anyway.

You can always tell them what you want. You don't HAVE to take an automatic. You can even order a pickup or SUV...and the brand/model you prefer. Of course, you may have to pay extra, but still....

My experience follows I_T's comments, though it is somewhat biased. I have no recollections of seeing automatics in England, Germany or France, including colleagues' private cars and rentals. In the US, all the rentals I've had are automatics, as are colleagues' cars.

For my part, I was happy to find a stickshift 4WD.

This time, I'd junk the TH-400 instead of just upgrading the crap out of it. I'd also lose the 4bbl and toss in a injection/Whipple supercharger set up. Oughta yeild around an even 1000HP at the crank. That, and I wonder if the guys at Headers By Ed up in MN remember how they plumbed my last one. Needed to reroute the drivers side bank of downtubes to clear the stearing box.
