In some states, the constitution can be changed by popular vote.
In some of those states, the question of reconstructing the constitution comes up on the ballot every 20 years or so in a simple question such as: Should the state of X revise the current constitution?

I am. Amazing what happens when the fever lifts.
You can get a demo of Civ4 at Zdnet, by the way....

I've never lived in one of those states. We always had constitutional amendments one at a time on the ballot - or sometimes four or five at a time, for the most piddling stuff!
When Oklahoma became a state, they submitted their constitution to the national government for approval, and President Theodore Roosevelt said something like, "That is the WORST governing document I have ever seen!"

Usually it's hardcore gamers that live alone--but not always. Consider yourself fortunate.
It's a sad thing to encounter a man who still refers to himself as a "gamer" in his late 30s to early 40s, who was quite probably been without a date for a good part of the last decade (or two).

It's a real pleasure to live in a ballot initiative state.
To: Tax-chick
Made the constitution a whole lot smaller.

I'm sure it has its strong points. We don't have any binding referenda in North Carolina, and I don't recall seeing Constitutional amendment on the ballot, either.

I wonder if there's a version of Civ 2 online....

Ballot initiative is only good as long as the state Supreme Court doesn't override the outcome, as in California. We've done one Constitutional amendment--gay marriage--in the last few years. Everything else has been casinos, education, and all that rot.
But, on the positive side of things, you only need so many signatures to get something up for a vote.

I do, too. A little too much, which is why I gave the whole endeavor up.

But I DO like GAMES! Hi, Face! Me too. I just wish I had time for them.
How're things?
I managed to reach the end of the mandatory training class, so I can get back to trying to make sure things are ready for the meeting in a couple of weeks (they aren't, and are far from it)... but in the meantime I've now been signed up for speaking engagements in Anchorage and New Delhi next month. Visa, shots, more sitting on airplanes... ugh.
But I might end up with some more nice photos for y'all, if I can get some extra time to look around.

I just played another 100 round game with the demo. Dang but this one is addictive!
Das have you ever played Alpha Centari? It really is the continuation of Civ2. I still play it. Wish Sid would come up with Alpha Centari2.
Civ 2 was my first love. My very first PC game. Civ3 not so much for some reason but this one.. oh my! I am going to be spending much of the winter playing Civ4 I think.

*sigh* And I'd like to be on the "earning end" once again.
I'll let my sister know you'll be in Anchorage. Who knows? Maybe she'll be happy to meet a FReeper! She has Alaska in her blood, just as I have the desert in mine...
