WASHINGTON, Dec. 22, 2005 After a four-day overseas trip that took him to four countries in the Middle East, Vice President Dick Cheney really wanted to get his iPod charged for that long return flight to Washington.
Since it is his plane, the vice president's iPod took priority and was plugged into one of the only working power outlets on Air Force Two, frustrating reporters who were trying to file stories.

I love my iPod. I've got a small 20GB one, bought it about 4 or 5 months ago...I've already got about 90 CDs on it, and I put podcasts--Rush Limbaugh, etc. on it.
Very cool invention. When I exercise, it doesn't skip and it holds sooo much music. I have plenty of "room" for more music, too, even with the 90 CDs.
I also bought a little "antenna" that attaches to it for about $30...when I'm in my car, that antenna will transmit to an FM frequency on my car radio and I can listen to all my music without carrying around CDs.
Just in case you were wondering.
LMAO! GO CHENEY! You tell 'em. I love this story. What he should do next is get the names of these whining reporters and ban them from all AF1 and AF2 future flights.
My Aussie friend would say, "stop your bloody whinging".
There are better mp3 players. Better, particularly quality-wise, especially, and cheaper, too.
What I want to know is why, as the article implies, are there non-working outlets on Cheney's plane? Security? Or maintenance problems?
Right... The VP is going to USB-link to a reporters laptop to get a charge and expose all the IPod contents to the 4th Column.
The MSM reporters may be technically challenged but our VP certainly isn't.
I think Cheney should start charging stuff every flight.
Of course!
The VP is a Rush Live subscriber and he wanted to listen to the Rush podcasts that he downloaded!
OMG!!! What a jerk!!!! (/sarc)
I'll bet Cheney didn't let the press use his private bathroom either.
Not only is the VP more important but the IPOD itself is more important.
Sounds like an excellent design for the VC-32.
Darn that Dick Cheney! Just think of all the unbiased news stories the public missed out on!
Before I read your post, I wasn't .. but now I sure am! That sounds quite cool. Must investigate after the Christmas bills are paid.
...frustrating reporters who were trying to file stories.
And relieving millions of Americans from their liberal reporting.
If it was VP (2 Americas)Edwards it would have been a puff piece on how hip he was.
They could have flown in the trailing plane like Newt was forced to do a few years ago.
Guests on a plane paid for by taxpayers I might add.
As a taxpayer, I have to go with the Vice President on this one. The reporters are only there as my guests. I say throw the thankless bunch off.
Remember the rant by the MSM on the food on Air Force 2???:
"Imagine this: You're about to set off with the secretary of state for Central Asia, a destination halfway around the world, on two back-to-back seven-hour flights in a packed 757 -- and the first meal served is a teeming bowl of pork and beans.
Of all the contentious issues on any trip by the secretary of state, food tops the list. Despite the heroic efforts of dedicated and good-natured military crews to craft miracles from abysmal menus, Air Force Two's food has become notorious."

They're lucky he didn't plug into them.
