From The Jerusalem Post:

Prime Minister Ariel Sharon was rushed to the Hadassah Ein Karem hospital in southern Jerusalem at 7:50 p.m. Sunday evening.

The prime minister, who will be 78 in February, apparently suffered a light stroke and was taken directly to the trauma room in the hospital. The senior medical staff of the hospital was called in to treat him.

Channel 1 reported that the prime minister was on the way to Tel Aviv on the Jerusalem-Tel Aviv highway when he felt unwell. Sharon reported this to his son Omri over the phone, and Omri ordered his security detail to take him directly to the hospital.

According to Channel 1, and contrary to earlier reports from several sources, the prime minister did not lose consciousness at any point, and even walked on his own into the trauma room. Other reports claimed the prime minister lost consciousness on the ride to the hospital, and Sharon was taken into the trauma room on a stretcher.

Sources close to the prime minister told the media that the prime minister's life was not in danger, but doctors treating Sharon were limited in their reports by Shin Bet regulations.

Army Radio reported for the first time following the report on the stroke that at least one paramedic is permanently attached to the prime minister's retinue, and that the paramedic accompanied him to the hospital.

Approximately three years, the prime minister underwent kidney stone surgery.

Check yourself. I wasn't speaking about Sharon's health, I was talking about it "being good" that any successor might be politically week.

Report: Ariel Sharon Suffers Minor Stroke

JERUSALEM — Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon was taken to a Jerusalem hospital Sunday night after feeling ill while working in his office, a hospital spokeswoman said. A TV report said he suffered a minor stroke.

The TV report said roads around Hadassah Hospital were closed before Sharon, 77, arrived in his official vehicle. Channel 10 TV, quoting police sources, said Sharon apparently lost consciousness.

He was taken directly to the emergency room of the hospital, the media reports said. Officials in Sharon's office were not available for comment.

Channel 10 reported that Sharon regained consciousness shortly after arriving at the hospital and quoted hospital officials it did not identify as saying he apparently suffered a minor stroke.

Channel 2 TV said he was taken into the hospital on a stretcher.

Hospital spokeswoman Yael Bossem-Levy said Sharon was undergoing tests. She would not give additional details.

She told Israel TV that as far as she knew, Sharon was conscious.

What would Ariel Sharon have to do with building a gay center in Tel Aviv?

That city has advertised itself as a vacation destination for gay tourists for years.

CNN says that he is awake but confused

Considering it was a stroke .. there would be confusion, even with a minor stroke

If you remember though - the same people who hate George W Bush, also hated Netanyahu.

That's a pretty good reference.

I was just going to say. how is "awake but confused" any different than the American Left's usual condition?

I heard Brian Wilson saying to Dennis Ross that if it is a minor stroke...it would be a TIA, like Harry Reid had...

I am not a neurologist, but I worked for one...and it would seem that if Sharon lost conciousness, it probably wasn't quite as minor as a TIA...but, I could be wrong...

The are doing an MRI...

Netanyahu, in the abstract, can be attractive. In the concrete is another matter. Anyone who has worked with him hates him. That's also not a bad reference.

That is what I am thinking also

I think the Sharon's staff & media are being careful on what to report till further information is known as a fact

If this was a bigger stroke .. there is gonna be a mess over there

I hope they are doing everything they can. Israeli doctors are some of the best in the world, so he is getting first class care.

All we can do is pray for a speedy and full recovery.
