(Vanity) Favorite Christmas Movies
Various FReepers | December 16, 2005 | Vanity, thy name is Owl_Eagle

Posted on 12/16/2005 12:31:40 PM PST by End Times Sentinel

Since there clearly haven't been enough vanities around here today, I figured I weigh in with one:

What are your three favorite Christmas Movies of all  time?

Me, I'm going with:

3.  A Christmas Carol (staring Patrick Stewart, 1999)

2.  A Very Brady Christmas (yes I'm serious)

1.  It's A Wonderful Life (one of the finest films of all time)

Alright FReepers, time to opine...

the woman who cleans the restroom in
the building I work in.  I'm going to start
thinking of her as a human being"

Some really great movies with Christmas endings that may slip beneath the radar...

Since You've Been Away - terrific story of life on the homefront during WWII

Meet Me In St. Louis - Judy Garland's 'Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas' is very touching

I like the 1951 a Christmas Carroll, Bad Santa, and all of the old shows from when we were kids. (Rudolf, Frosty, Santa Clause is Coming to Town, Year with Out a Santa Clause, etc.)

I am however,
the only human living who has never watched "Its a Wonderful Life" all the way through. I don't like it.

That's ok, I've seen it 200 times, you're off the hook.

Everything evens out in the end.

Bill Murray is a genius. " Milkman, that's so you! "

The Muppet Christmas Carol is a great version! I've been watching it over and over with my kids this year. It's really funny but actually a good version too.

I also like the George C. Scott version.

You must have had HBO back in the 80's. I loved those two shows.

Well I love "it's a wonderful life"-- that movie gets me every time. I also like The Bishops Wife with Cary Grant as an angel, but seeing I am a huge Cary Grant fan, I might be a bit partial. ;-) I also like Scrooged with Bill Murray and my favorite Christmas Carol is the one with George C Scott.

1) Magoo's Christmas Carol (nice to see I'm not the only one who really likes this version)

2) Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer (both the old Fleischer version and the Rankin Bass one (I miss those Norelco commercials)

3) Last, but not least, is Laurel & Hardy's "Babes in Toyland" (aka March of the Wooden Soldiers).

I completely agree with you on this version of "A Christmas Carol"

Yep. One of my fav's, too.

I still chuckle when Sargent Powell sings "oh the weather outside is frightful, du-dum, du-dum delightful" and when he tells Duane "Why don't you smell what you shovelin'?"
