Agreed that we should pressure them very hard but even if they voted for cloture on the the Patriot Acts, we would still be short to get the required 60 votes.

It's incumbent on you to convince your fellow FReepers that this is a worthy effort. A fair number of things I was not comfortable with regarding the "Patriot Act". Some parts were a no-brainer.
Sure W's administration hasn't abused the Patriot Act, but think of when 'Toon was POTUS. Think of the next Dem President.
FReepers as a rule don't hand over rights to the government without a DAMN good reason.
I don't care if W wants it. Before I lend my support, I was a point-by-point explanation of why these three Republicans were wrong. Not just "us" vs "them". That's partisan garbage.

How about to prevent the next 9/11 or are you uninformed that there are terrorist cells in the US and they are preparing. Got one we know of in Buffalo.

The traitors have won a battle.

There were three Democrats who voted against the filibuster and Frist voted against it as a parliamentary move, so that he could re-introduce the bill again.
True, even that would only make the vote 57 to 43.
But these three RINOs help provide the "bipartisan" aspect to the failure to close the filibuster, and that supplies the "bipartisan" cover that the MSM is already selling the defeat of the Patriot Act as.
People need to call there offices and have everyone among their friends and families call their offices.

We'll be hearing from Murkowski in person next week, and her newsletter also goes into considerable detail on current Congressional matters. It would be well to have a built-in sunset to such acts as the Patriot Act. In the wrong hands such acts could lead directly to totalitarianism.

Dear Senator:
Your vote in support of the democrat fillibuster has been duly noted. I wish you were my Senator but take great solace in knowing that I can vote against both my Senators from Wisconsin.

Wrong as rain.
Those that have complaints about the intelligence powers and sharing and the investigation changes, provided by the Patriot act, are the ones upon whom it is incumbant to explain what is bad about those changes, and that explanation is irrelevant when based solely on liberal talking points and do not rely on the actual text of the act.

Just how many rights are prepared to give up to feel safe?
Frankly, from my limited knowledge of the Act, there were some corrections to stupid things "The Gorelick Wall" and other procedural items.
But some things sucked.
How long before some bright Senator figures out they can cross check gun owners and take advantage of a political opportunity (public official gets gunned down) to effectively throttle our Second Amendment rights?
Americans don't give up their rights.

I don't know why people speculate about Hagel running for President - he is absolutely one of the worst Senators the pubbies have. Sununu has become a total wimp. and Murkowski continues to prove she was not worthy for replacing her dad, not because of nepotism, but because of pure incompetence & susceptibility to liberal press approval of everything she does.
To: wallcrawlr
Frist voted "Nay" as a parliamentary maneuver to keep the option of re-introducing the bill.

We'll get rid of these idiots yet.
